Title: For those who text night before clean
Post by: chopsie on September 20, 2010, 08:43:44 pm
How do you do it? Just send a multiple message to whoever? entering individual numbers manually, or do you have some sort of computer programme that can do it. I am finding it a bit fiddly on blackberry bold, easy to press wrong numbers. I could fill up my phone with custys numbers but then it would waste my memory. Any ideas

Only have an odd one to text with gate etc,.... cant do with too many of them, ..

get lots of call from customers "dropped" by other windies,

i quote them and they say oh i lock my gate how do we go on?

here we go!

i tend not to do them now i am full .

dont get me wrong , the texts work (sometimes)......and i know its work.... but i can do without lots of them on my round.. .

cheers Daz but was after a better way of doing it other than typing numbers in every time. I do not really want to fill my phone with custies numbers,I suppose there are not that many though. I cannot seem to save a text template on blackberry either so have to write that every time. To be honest I am not overly impressed with phone, buttons too small, Had a crap samsung tocco for last 18 months, now this bloody crapberry, wish i stuck to nokia  :'( ;D
On a lighter note Daz I am flying wfp now, I was just taking to much time and going too slow, added £8-10 on my hourly turnover already, Not quite as good on the water usage as you yet, but getting extra £30 ish out of tank  :-*

I only text around 5 customers per month so they are all on my phone, I really couldn't be doing with texting all my customers, that would be a nightmare

chopsie im sure a few custies phone numbers in your phone wont take up much room.ive got a samsung with a mini memory stick.

i also ALWAYS input new custies phone numbers in mobile then write them in my phone book as well just in case i lose/break my phone!ive learnt from experience!!

I text or phone all my customers the night before!

My text reads...

"Window cleaner...Your booked in tomorrow! Please leave access to all windows and payment in arranged place! thanks."

I just blanket text them, so one text and the phone sends to all customers! ive found this to be the best way of avoiding night collections as they leave payment in an arranged place on there property! some wont do that and like to send me a cheque or pay into my back etc.

By the way all my customers numbers are on my phone.

Regards, G.B

Open an account with o2 online. You get 100 free texts too. I just say 'please leave the gate open for window cleaning tomorrow, Thanks David'. One text and it is sent to all the numbers you input. You don't ever have to type it in again, just forward yesterdays message on to todays numbers.

I've only got a few that I need to text but they are all saved under 'X' ie X123 Main Road. That way all of my customers are together on my phone and easier to find especially if you need to send text to multiple customers on the same night.

I did something like that recently but ended up texting someone who had a clean a few days before - oops !!  Had to phone him to put the record straight.

thing is mate I make a hell of a lot of calls so the 2000 mins is just right for me and I only need a phone to make calls with and text and my trusty samsung d600 which Ive had for 5 years does just that.

as I say I got £450 for the iphone which pays for 5 months so thats how I look at it,   my last 4 upgrades have all sold well on ebay and its not the phone I want but the minutes and free uk landline calls

does anyone get more than 2000 mins on their contract ?

I get 300 minutes, and I fully expect to have about 270 left over most months.
Hardly ever ring people. When I do it's mostly landline, and I have free calls from mine.

same here 500 minutes free and never use a fraction of that and landlines free, and I spend about 50p per month on texts for 15 quid

my phone is for receiving calls not making them

you see stu I use mine to make calls as I call my daughter several times a week and other family members

the 2000 mins is just right for me and I remeber when I used to have 800 mins each month and still went over so now I pay the same £50 bill each month

and as its on a business tariff I can claim for it

Can't you group your customers on your phone in weekly, monthly etc then txt then group the night before.

I'd be interested to find out about your pricing scheme mr SMS.

There's no PM here that I know of mate.  But reading this thread gives me ideas as I'm a techie by trade, I have contacts in your trade that I might seek prices from, if you can drop me an e-mail with your prices I might be interested at some point.

Cheers

Or you could automate it with a click of a button yo bulk send and appear on the customers phone with your company name.

Every window cleaner is different I suppose, some more professional than others, some faster at cleaning, I am just interested in finding out how you all communicate with your happy customers and if you could communicate more efficiently what would you do?

SMS
Perhaps i'm missing the point.Perhaps you are.If a window cleaner has 500 customers, he might text three to unlock gates the following day- he might text twenty if he texts them all.

The idea of texting all 500, (hi crystal clean are doing a good deal on gutter cleans for the spring, specially discounted for our existing customers to £50 text back if you would like to be included) is not something i have heard of.But not unthinkable.
