u prob nicked PCNW work, was they priced really cheaply
-
if they haven't been round for 4 months tough in fact if they just didn't like the guy tough, I tried the whole not stepping on others toes and it doesn't work, if asked put a price in and do the work if accepted simples.
-
true, it was prob just scallys doing the work as we got complimented on our work..... feels good being a proper tradesman an doing agood job.
-
Just put your own price in. If there cleaner hasn't turned up in 4 months then he isn't giving the service the customer expects. It's a no brainer.

I picked up a customer that turned out to be good earner because I then ended with ten in the street when I was cleaning a flat miles away, the guy pulled up and asked if I covered his area which I did, so I went along and priced the job and got it so I cleaned it there and then and guess what happened the old window cleaner turned up just as I was finishing, He was not very happy but I said hey mate he approached me and I took the job what do you want to do, He then explained that he broke a leg from a fall, so I said fair enough I can understand the delay in returning so go ask the customer,
and I still clean they windows now. as well as half the street.
I did feel sorry for the guy but its no wonder he fell as he turned up with a sierra with no roof rack and ladders bungied to the roof on top of beach towels. and the job was all sloping roofs and really impossible windows to be done trad.

I have picked up a few jobs from customers who tell me their window cleaner has gone off travelling and hasn't come back yet. Apparantly he's done it before. The thing is he charged £8 for houses I am charging £14 for so if he comes back they will drop me.
I wouldn't have taken them on if I had known the full story. Its not just a question of are you wrong to take on these customers, its also a question of how wrong is he to expect to walk back in.

dont worry about it - its the customers choice on a wc.
4 months is a while - maybe the wc dumped it - could be a 'cowboy customer'
