Clive your last post is a typical suppliers reply,(yes its £75) for some time I have felt we are being ripped off and came up with my answer to a fun telescopic at a resonable price,I also think that modular fishing poles are ok for the price, if your happy paying ott prices thats ok. Red Hat diving did us all a favour by bringing down prices of pumps and backpacks virtually overnight.
Please note I am not really a "supplier" just offering a tailor made answer.

Does the pole clamp or lock when slid out? Does this mean it spins when closed? I cant quite figure it out
How long is it?
Im asking because i am interested in a 30ft + pole i could use everyday. Thanks
-
Its a simple internaltwist lock friction clamp and it doesnt spin when closed. Current offering is 19ft -21ft actual, it will shortly have a 5ft top extension and later a 3ft base extension.
Here are some unfinished notes on the history one pole I sold has been in continuous use abroad for 3 years on trial.
"June 4th 2007
The modular carbon fibre Map F16 is ideal for high work over 30ft but many readers express an interest in cheap poles for lower work. Some years ago I made a wfp from a telescopic whip fishing pole and stuck a brush on it. I got to 18ft and it promptly collapsed as soon as I started to work with it. I could not get it to stay up.
Revisiting this chain of thought about 2 months ago I bought 3 different makes of telescopic and modular flag/kite pole and re started work. The glass fibre sections are slightly bendy but because they taper are lighter than current parallel section wfp. They are available world wide.
I have been encouraged by users who have bought the Ron Thompson Zensorflex –designed for use with the F16 carbon fibre, and used it as a modular wfp at £18 it is very strong but a bit whippy compared with the carbon fibre which is a delight to use. Also the Gangster which at 27ft is ok
Pac Hawk 9m 1022gm/2lb4oz reaches 18ft . collapse.
Spirit of Air 10m 911gm 2lb10oz reaches 21ft + body height.Collapse.
Sky Blue poles. Collapse.
You put the poles up by simply but forcibly extending to the stop and giving a slight twist to lock. When I used them previously I had a 16oz brush and as soon as you knocked the top it would totally collapse in a concertina fashion. Which is useless but I persevered. I have since then used lighter brushes and this is fundamental to their use. They are designed to be used with a flag which has no weight and if you add a slight induced bend as with a windsock they will stay up for a long time. I marked the circumference of each pole when extended by scribing around each section where it joins and then seperated them all. If you do this you will find there is a generous overlap with the Paqc Hawk but not so much with the Spirit of Air and the xxxxxx When extending you now have a marker and an idea of where the inner butt section finishes and how hard you can pull to lock the pole when in use.
Tbc.
As you see I have revisited the topic of 2007 and obtained after 3 years searching a collection of poles - and a pole that stays up from China. For those that may have missed the 3rd video here is a link. Scroll down.

Fair critique Ewan, Peter F avtually encouraged me to sell systems and charge my normal hourly rate for putting them together, I have done this with this pole.Vat will cause problems(I also dont charge Vat). The new Glyder range is excellent and there have been massive developement costs which have to be passed on also a big sales force and PR engine. I am just your basic w/cer with non of the overheads to pass on. Yes suppliers do get a hard time on here and other forums, thats why they probably dont get involved with the chit chat anymore, but they are still looking in on whats happening and so is the rest of the world.
I think the price is fair to me and to you. I now know that this paticular pole can be turned out in the thousands and for peanuts so am offering it at a fair price for all,one day soon one of the manuf will try to reproduce it and blow me away but I have a trick or two up my sleeve. Its a little bit like window cleaning, its a percieved service.
-
"suppliers get a hard time on here by people with little knowledge of manufacturing and all the associated cost."
Yes I think Alex would agree with that quote - spot on there Ewan! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Ewan spec saver has a special I thing you may need it. Jeff is a man deserves for repect than is given credit for.
-
Ewan, you are the guy who can't see it, Gardiners and the like have had to design and develop their poles from the ground up hence they have to pass on their costs. Jeff seems to have produced a pole from ready made parts available for other applications - hence tiny development costs. I'm not knocking Jeffs pole I've not seen it but to expect Gardiners, Ionics or Facelift to sell their carbon telescopic poles for £75 is a bit far fetched.
How much should a CLX sell for - £10?
I don't understand why you pick on Gardiners so much. Carbon poles were around long before the SLX They produced their own better and cheaper version and yet you slag them at every opportunity.
-
No it's not a personal dig at me at all ??? Facelift carbon poles were around already at a far higher price yet no one complains about them. Gardiners didn't make the SLX from ready made components from China. The original bike type clamps were the only way to reduce the collapsed length of the pole without making more shorter sections - a criticism of the Facelift I believe it was around 6 feet long.
If you want to complain then look at the original Superlight1 - that was an adapted fishing pole and most likely Jeffs idea in the first place.
We would all welcome lower prices but pole prices have been tumbling all the time - thanks mostly to Alex Gardiner.
Do you work for a supplier? You seem very biased - I really can't understand your outlook.
-
Got mine last week, how does it compare with the slx?....dunno, never used one......how does it compare with the other versions of DIY poles out there, like skyblue, pack hawk etc etc?.......BLOWS EM OUT OF THE WATER!
Brilliant Pole Jeff, well done on getting this concept spot on for guys like me (who clean windows with the poles)
It really is a great pole ;)
-
I do like the look of this pole and also the video shows hoe easily it is used. What are the pole sections like. Do they taper in a little or are they straight. It probably won't be long before a big manufacturer picks up the idea and runs with is.
Simon.

Well done Jeff, looks like a great value for money pole!!! I can't understand why some people on here are criticising you? Mind you the same thing happened to me when I showed others how I made a £15 Harris pole into a very good wfp pole!!
-
So it was you, well done we should have a wall of fame section. 8)

Jeffs pole sounds great, where can I get one?
-
Hi
I notice on one of Jeffs videos that he has made a swivel for his brush which he has used for many years. I found it interesting. Jeff, if you read this, please let us know how or what you used to make your swivel. Thanks
Spruce
-
Ditto, I'm desperate for a new swivel.
-
In the spring - and not before, we will have amongst other things a revolutionary superswivel brush to go with the pole.
-
why not call it the "brimble pole" instead jeff........instantly recognisable ;)
-
Not many know how to spell it :-[
Bit like your first name :)
We thought the fishing pole names are exciting.
Perhaps you should start a Poll 4 the pole ?
-
brimbles spindle pole ;D
poll it is then :D
-
jeff can you use a vikan brush on these poles?
-
Hmm I only use 8-10oz and its ok, the heavier brushes may knock the pole down easier. However I have been trialling a RHG Boars head brush thats 15oz, after only 1 day trial its staying up ok. The clamps are able to be really torqued tight, which is what I did but you need good wrists.
What the weight and type of the Vikan you use ?
-
my vikan brushes are the normal 12 inch mono red brush and also looking to get a sill brush
-
Any one know the weight of it ?
-
