Does anyone use these for new customers?
I have heard of a window cleaner who has used it he said it works well and its legally binding if anyone has any experience with something similar pls let me know!.
Its just an Idea but , i feel the only customers that wont sign it are the ones that are not serious, fair enof i might lose one or 2 that just dont like signing things but ultimately it may be a way of filtering trough work double speed,
i need to find out a way to stop these (lets give it a trail run customers)
or in other words can you please clean the dirt which has gathered on our windows for the past 6 years then we will never see you again.)
I tell you in London people can be ruthless they rip you in pieces i feel i do need to protect myself.
I dont mind customers canceling ( well i do lol) but its just i tell told the particular gentlemen ok £16 every 8 weeks , he was so eager i said hang on do you understand that when i come again in 8 weeks your windows will look clean in comparison to how they look now and you will never see them this dirty again i only make my money keeping them clean and i do ask for a commitment i say 6 cleans at least then its up to you.
Ofc he says pls clean we are happy to pay you they are so dirty its very reasonable what you are saying. ok Cool..i clean it get paid, guess what 8 weeks later he pays me and looks up and says "yea we are not sure this 8 weekly thing they dont look dirty enof to be cleaned" LOL...
I sigh......... and say do you remember our conversation? he said ah yea ,,, ok ,,, i could just tell he wanted me never to come back and if i didnt remind him about our verbal agreement he would have had the one clean. But as we have no Contract he can mess me about anytime.
i must safe guard myself or these people will eat me for breakfast in the winter
Ill explain that 1st cleans normally cost X
i charge the normal price however i do require a comitment of say 6 cleans?
Signed dated etc?
wat you guys think?

How are you getting these new customers?

to me contracts for domestic cutsy are a waste, what r u going to do take them to court for not having there windows cleaned, if a wc tried it with me, i would damage a pot and counter sue or claim he entered my property illegal or was trespassing, and what if you dont come every 4 weeks, can they cancel contracts becasue you are running late, as you would be in breach of contract
i dont even have a contract for commercial, if they dont want you to clean them there is nothing you can do, just move on and replace them

well put darren!

clear, just read one of ur posts on custy trying to get out of paying, just go around when hes not there and spray tfr all over window horrible to get off when it dries or get a mate to do it in a unmarked van if any one says any thing just here to clean the windows, and just washed them and mark them all up and leave
-
lol darren they would deserve it too! i also liked the post someone said he parked his car infront of the drive untill they paided thats amazing LOL.
but going bck to this contract thing. alot of people in london feel if they sign something its valid and the court thing would never happen as you said its to hard to uphold , like being late etc ,
but i feel they wont change window cleaner IE: they will say sorry i have one and i am in a contract for 2 more years.
Alot of the time wasters said ok ill try you but i aint signing anything so im just putting 2 and 2 together
Contract/sign something and paying by standing order
the customer will believe they are tied down even thou in theory they are not.
as i will not waste my time with the court.
they pay all the household bills via the bank and i become another household bill.
Thats what i wana be a household bill
I think the question here is if someone signs something and pays via standing order there is alot less chance of " see you in spring, sorry got a cheaper quote. going on holiday for 6 months thanks for the 1st clean thou ."

If London is that bad I think the best thing you can do is get yourself back up north, I thought being up north the people were meant to be tougher, but it sounds like it has turned you into a whinging, moaning old woman.
And as for this contract business just grow a pair pill your socks up and get out and get some work, I've always lived in London and have been cleaning windows for about 15 years all mainly domestic never had any contracts domestic or commercial.
Most of my round is every four weeks, even if I'm a day late my customers are wondering where I am, you've got stop compairing south and north they are a world apart.
Just be strong with your pricing explain that you will be back x amount of weeks and just do it, if they cancel well fine you have still mande money so to the next one.
What part of London are you working in?

offer no contracts and no pre booked (unless its at a premium).
knock door
offer service
do work/get paid
do em again in 4/6/8 weeks.
obviously you need to be out EVERY night and weekends for 6 months i reckon to get some sort of round together.
then its a case of getting the customers to trust you to be reliable and do a good job which takes time!
stop moaning like an old woman and go for it pal.
i live in salford manchester lad.

hi
if the windows are really dirty charge more, then if they don't want them done again after the first clean who cares so far i haven't had any problems, but to be honest i dont care as long as i earn £x each hour im out working its all work in my eyes money in the bank ;D

Well said that man.
Additionally if I put up a contract in front of a domestic biddy to ask her to sign she's going to want to read it first. Youve lost lost the momentum of the sale by doing that.
She'll want to go away and sit down and read it, she'll wonder what the hell this is all about and ring another company.
Its ridiculous and dreadful sales technique.

I do residential contracts - though i call them service agreements.
If it is what i call round service then i always quote a first clean cost then a maintenance clean cost thereafter. They sign to agree to my terms which include giving 30 days notice to cancel and a minimum numbe of consecutive visits (usuallly 6).
Otherwise its a quaterly inside and out agreement.
It works for me - i won't take on a any residential customer without it.
As for doing commercial work without a contract - thats just nuts IMO.
-
Sorry i have been whining alot latley just that its so different ,
Ill be honest thou it aint that bad dont get me wrong the day rate i have achieved here when it goes right was insane . good points are present i just need to keep going
Infact i had a customer call me the other day i was 1 day late! that put a smile on my face i guess ill find a large amount of good customers like she was who looks forward to the phone call!
