HI JUST WANTED TO FIND OUT WHAT PEOPLE HAVE FOUND TO BE THE GREATEST PROBLEM AND CHALLENGIES WITH DOMESTIC CLEANING
-
Finding customers willing to pay anywhere near a reasonable rate...........
-
Some people not doing a thing between cleans then expect you to clean every inch of the house in 2 hours. Leaving the house messy so you have to have a little tidy up 1st before you can clean. Cancelling the clean at short notice etc ::)
-
make sure from day one the customers understands your terms & conditions.
so basically you be fair with them and they should be fair with you.
for example - house must be tidy so you can clean - i always say the the more tidier the house the more cleaning done.
we dont like moving much - end up getting the blame for missing paperwork and so on ...
customers must have a min of 4 hour if the whole house ... that way youwont get customer wanting too much done in too little time.
do a good job and the customers soon become your friend - if you know what i mean.
stick to something like this and the problems will be less and less

Customer always trying to poach your staff cos they are good
They offer the staff member more per hour, saves themselves pounds per hour and pay it off the books in cash....everyones a winner e except you

finding the right staff then keeping them

Varies cos there're a few issues eg. clutter, disorder and a messy household - slows down performing the clean within agreed time and standard and can effect attitude of cleaners.

The biggest problem I find is the "fresh pair of eyes syndrome" :) . You see, after been in this type of crack after a while, the brain just doesn't see the dirt anymore, so when a punter comes to have a look, their eye will always pick out something. They expect specific cleaning standards for general cleaning prices. Hence the old "you missed a spot" - syndrome, ha ha. I don't get this though, I'm too slick. I get the guys to check each others work, i call it criss crossing. Its not for them to pick up on each other, rather for them to know that no matter how good you are, your brain just will often not see the dirt. It switches off. Get thm to wear those lamps on there head and then check each others work in grids going north south, east west movements, especially when doing bereavement clean ups. We cant have any of that nasty decomp juice running down from under the bath when the temp rises, yuckh!
