Ive just had a phone call from a customer from an estate we do who says shes been approached tonight by a lad who has said that Im packing in my round and theyre going to offer a cheaper service,
She told them we had been cleaning for years and she doubts that we would just pack in as we had cleaned it this week.
I immediatley phoned my main man who said he did notice 2 other guys working together who were taking great notice of which houses my 2 guys were doing.
Putting 2 and 2 together it appears that they were taking note of which houses we did earlier this week and have started to approach our customers tonight.
Weve been cleaning the estate fortnightly for nearly 6 years so I doubt it will cause much damage.
Nice guys though arent they these 2 clowns?
Im going to keep my eye open for them and for their sakes I hope their lifestyles are 110% above board.

You need to be careful writing that prior to the event. Im sure you'd be had for something. Lets face it scheming to 'do' someone for something prior to the event is likely to cost you your position Dean.
Its hardly professional.
In fact its just as questionable, if not more so, than those two toe-rags you are scheming against.

I'm upset about what's gone on but I certainly wouldn't use any police powers to un-nerve a genuine person.
As I said originally if they aren't playing by the rules they will be dealt with, the same as anybody else would be setting aside any previous disagreements.

Its a way of dealing with people, anyone infact who doesnt carry their documents,
If theyve got their docs then fine, all is well and good.
Surely you can see the good in having a legal upperhand on these people who are going around causing problems,
If theyre playing it by the book then fine...........if not then lets shut the scum down.

These are council houses in a compact area that we do for £4 a clean, and it also has a large OAP bungalow area,
These guys have turned up saying weve pack our round in and they will do them for £2.50 a clean,
Do you think theyre legal?
Is there a chance they might be on the dole? Disqual from driving? Or maybe even potential burglars that are trying to access peoples property by fooling them into a service?
As the customer who called me tonight pointed out they "looked well dodgy"
Am I abusing any police powers that I have or am I doing my Duty?

Im not here to fall out with you, the original context of the thread was to just make a point of how desperate people are, and how theyre willing to shaft you,
Alot of window cleaners who go around doing stuff like this are dodgy, the £2.50 was for a house, how much have they quoted for a bungalow?
Ive been policing for 5 years now and I know what goes on, Stoke isnt the nicest of areas and to suggest that these guys are maybe illegal, dodgy, uninsured, on the dole etc isnt unreasonable.
This estate is right on my patch(police wise) and if anything did happen untoward and I told my inspector what Id seen and didnt act on it then things would hit the fan.

I wouldnt know it was them if they were sitting next to me in my living room now,
Its the beauty of forums, all ifs and buts,

same thing happend to me a while ago when i was up north
at the time i had £800 per 2 weeks i think they took about 15% tops
the prices at that round were low as it was (not been upped in 3 years)they came in at £0.80 per bungalow my price (£2.50) and £2.00 for a 3 bed semi (5 ladder trips but easy houses)my price (£3.50 - £4.00) it was funny LOL when i saw his leaflet he actually advertised £0.80p oh and house with conservatory £2.50!!!
to be honest i got a bit scared at the time.I knew and even the customers knew he had to be uninsured on benefits etc and that he was just doing it for spare cash. well i lost like 20-30 house mostly you will find the bad payers leave 1st then you might get 4-6 good payers (and those are the ones that get you p you off)
just ride out the storm mate.once the winter comes in if they aint got %50 they are gone remember for every house you clean they need to clean 2 its funny! ;D
there is alot of hidden costs there too, collecting,fuel car costs? etc and if they get any bad payers it dont matter if its £2 or £4 they will tell them to come back on monay
what human being is gona be happy working for £2 then being told to collect it
as they are newbies they will not understand how to manage these bad payers
they will end up collecting each day even if there is £30.00 they will only get maybe £10 in lol LoL ;)
you might loose 10%ish , most people will not change to new faces for a little less
and the ones that do... tell them (when they pack in its gona be 50p more)
i did to all the ones that left me, some i took back at the same price and explained to them that if it ever happens again i will up it , and they said sorry ill never leave you again. i uped a few and a few i didnt take back.
HE lasted 2 months , .i can understand people need extra cash and are hardup but if i spoke to him i would have given him advice where to knock what to charge etc, not work for such silly rates.
Oh and by the way if you got work in other areas go doorkocking i was so worried i went out everyday over 1 month i picked up £500 ( i thought i was gona lose the whole round lol) so i was getting prepaid so it turns out he done me a favour
1) he got rid of all the bad payers for me
2) i upped my prices
3) worried went out picked up a whole round.
4) people learned a lesson and told me they will never change again!

If they take customers off you this way then they were not really your customers anyway, They are drifters and you can not build a good reliable business on them.
My customers are loyal and will stick with you through thick and thin and will not change to anther cleaner to save a £ or 2.
With you they know you are reliable, do a good job, do not rob the place and leave closing the gates behind you.

would rather have 100 good payers than 200 messers
am going on my hols at the end of the months so will be having a cull of custys then, some i just dump and so are on my knock list if i can be bothered, if a custys says not this month twice on the run, they are dropped,

Because in any democratic society we all have the right to be assumed not guilty and to be free of harrassement. This is a democratic society, not a police state. And who says they are in the wrong? They havent broken any laws. They are not in the wrong.
Next time one of your custards tells you someone else has been canvassing your work phone the police, make a complaint and insist on an arrest. See what sort of response you get. And post it on here. Id be fascinated.
Ive lost count of the number of times Ive read on internet forums the hatred people have of the police for unnecessary and unasked for interventiion by them. Cant have it both ways. Either they get to stop people with no reason or evidence to justify and we get to moan or they dont and we have our freedom. Which one you want?
By the way I seriously think the police do a great job in general, but there is the odd bad apple; just as in any set of individuals.
Stopping some guys because you feel your window cleaning business is likely to loose a few custards just isnt enough and wouldnt stand up in court. Nor is some fat geezer saying 'they looked dodgy' good enough either.

You need to do some extra curricular homework Deano, harm to themselves or others I think is the bit youre missing; not window cleaners undercutting dear ol' Deano and his window cleaning team and his fat customers.

Nothing from the police side yet, but these clowns have cleaned a property that we clean saying they've taken over my round and charged an oap 3 cleans saying that the books say that's what she owes. She's reluctantly paid.
She's called me today and I've been to visit her and they've been stupid enough to give her a 50 for £3 type of business card with their details on.
I've passed the info on and we are going to come down on them like a sack of spuds attached to a tank.
