Unfortunately for all you experienced wcs i'm another newbie on here,but i have been trying to learn a lot from this forum.
I'm going to try and do some part time window cleaning by wfp as i currently work,but am losing my job next year.
I may try and buy a day or two's work as i have seen some small rounds for sale.
Obviously i need to practice first so i've looked at various options but i thought for less than £300 i could get a backpack,pole and small ro from johnhewiitt (and probably some good advice-i'm not too far away from him) and practice on my own house till i've mastered it.
Does this seem a sensible approach please?

Aye, that's smart thinking. Just try to practice on as many different types of window as possible, there are dozens of window designs. Friends, family or friendly neighbours. Get stuck in and look for faults then try to improve.

Yes it is sensible.As is reading this forum.As is getting trad tools too.
When you go into business it's scary, and exciting too.You have lots of decisions to make and a lot of them will be wrong.
It doesn't matter, as long as some are correct you will get there in the end.
I'm big on reading business books, and in one the man ask's a local the best way to get to Dublin.The local tells him if it was me i wouldn't have started from here.

I've been practising some trad at home with a bayersan squeegee and fairy liq,but improvement required at the moment.

just keep trying and it will come good some people realy cant fan with a squeegee i dont know why there is a windy who works in the same area as me he cant he just uses horizontal and verticle motions and trust me he is not that much slower and i think i can use a squeegee quick its all technique and practice

look at wally the window cleaner on utube. The guy is a brilliant teacher, he used to come on here, and im a bit ashamed now that i was mostly rude to him.
I think he called it climbing the mountain, but i didnt know any of it.
The other important factor for you is self belief.When you get asked "are you a window cleaner?" what are you going to say? Believe in yourself.
