Do you flush your RO regularly?
If not - fully open your waste water valve, so your tap water is running straight through the RO membrane, do this for 20 - 40 mins.
Then close the valve so as to produce pure water and after a short while your TDS should drop down to more or less what you had before.
-
Why don't you get an RO booster pump dude? Initial outlay, but at least it would solve your problem!

The thing is, that the RO relies on the water pressure to force the water through the semi-permeable membrane..
If the pressure just isn't there it isn't going to work properly... even if it is a low pressure membrane...
My water pressure is 120 PSi, which is very good for mains.. Low would be 30psi IMO.. and too low for a RO to work efficiently...
The lower the pressure the more problems you are going to have.. :(
Try a booster pump and let us know how you get on!
-
Justin, I think others are right mate, even though its for low pressure, 10 psi is pushing it.
I would'nt bother selling it, get it paired up to the right booster pump and it'll be happy days :D
Incidentally, if any other 4040 users have a booster pump I would be interested in what brand and where you bought it, as thinking of getting one myself. Are any of the ones in machine mart any good ?
Simon
-
Hiya J mate..... ;)
120 psi...... JESUS MAN.... :o :o :o :o :o
Any houses for sale near you man....LOL
I get the picture bud ;)
Just with this being a low pressure ro...i thought 8psi would be okay...... ::) ::)
Thank you again mate & take care

Simon mate....
The pump i was told to get was -
CBM240e from machine mart........looks a lot like the spare transfere pump i got!!!!
Strange that....are they just transfere pumps like this ???
http://www.cleaningspot.co.uk/acatalog/Water_transfer.htmltransfere pump
http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/cbm240e-1in-multi-stage-230v-booster-pum?da=1&TC=RV-051011132 booster pump from machine mart
Or a bit cheaper here- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Clarke-CBM240E-1-Multi-Stage-230v-Booster-Pump-/170490436972?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item27b2059d6c&x=26&y=9
Do you think they look the same man??? 8) 8) 8)
Kindest regards

justin i turn on water for 5 mins to flush then close the valve and get a reading of 1.5 bar and roughly 80 lt an hour takes forever to fill tank when full open valve and run for 5mins no reading on gauge. i will also look at booster pump i get a lot of waste. unger rep said i should have gone di not ro system as tds of 180 is good.
-
I use a 40/40 HF5 with something similar to this....
here (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SELF-PRIMMING-PUMP-IBO-WZ750-109PSI-/180551514793?pt=UK_HomeGarden_Garden_PondsWaterFeatures_UK&hash=item2a09b57aa9)
B and Q do an own brand pump similar to that £139 one at the cleaning spot, for £30 ish wich is higher pressure than that too.
I use a header tank as the suction from these pumps may well be faster than your mains can supply it.
-
Justin
Sorry to hear you are having problems with your HF5.
I am in Berkshire at the moment and have just tested the HF5 i have here.
Un-pumped with a filling pressure of 27psi and after a good 5 min flush TDS in 363 and TDS out after 10 mins, 24.
Pumped with filling pressure of 65psi TDS in 363 and TDS out 11.
After comparing your figures with mine, maybe you need to put a decent pump on it.
I have 2 of these, http://www.ro-man.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=28&products_id=245, the one on my RO-Man system is about 4 years old now.
Also, may be worth getting some bigger hose to go from your tap to up your flow rate.

Hi all.
Sorry about the delay went to the pub!
The pump is not the aquatec one its a proper piece of kit and it gives me 500lts of pure water per hour. The water from the ro is a lot lower tds so I save on resin.
You are best giving pure freedom a call and see what they have to say about it. I recon its the best pump I've ever tried.
