Got back Sat from a great 2 weeks up in Glaisdale, near Whitby !!
Did some sight seeing, climbed Roseberry topping ,Capt cook monument in Guisbrough,Rieviaulx abby etc.
Best fish and chips ever from the Hart inn in Sandsend, plenty of Black sheep beer, and Beggars bridge.
Had a mare getting home,as my wifes car spat it`s alternator pulley off at 70 mph down the A171,turned out she only had assistance not recovery,so cost us £370 to get home, bloke from Brambles farm in Middlesbrough, who happened to know my ex gf`s cousin !!
Don`t know how you guy`s work in the winter on those roads, even recovery bloke said it was a mare
-
I live about 40 mins from Whitby and me and the family go a lot and drive on the coast road is lovely and can not beat the fish and chips ;D
-
Yeah but why do they leave the skin on the fish, YAK!! Must be a north coast thing.
-
True that and i hate the skin on spec when its a chippy tea and your earing it from paper ;D
-
Lovley roads for the motorbike too and not many speed cameras :D
-
We go to Sandsend, was there last Xmas I had a sickness bug and lost about over a stone in weight and that was after my missus had emptied my wallet.

I used to live in Great Ayton , loved it .

We go to Sandsend,
The Hart inn beats everything else
Best fish and chips i have ever eaten !!! Went back twice, they also skin the fish !! Magpie is just too busy !!
Love it up there, used to live in Great ayton,so know my way around, took it out of the wife`s 20 year old golf though,33% gradients,i drove the entire hol, brakes took a battering on the way there, car was fully laden with food and booze, put on about 5lbs i think,Also broke down on way home, pulley came off alternator at 70mph on the A171,turned out my wife only had aa assistance,so would only tow us 10 miles,so we got too the scrappy in Guisborough, they didn`t have anything that would fit,so a lad there took another pulley off and i bodged it on,got as far as Thimblby on the A19,cosy us £370 to get recovery, bloke from Brambles farm in Middlesbrough !!
We set off at 7.30 am and got home at 4.30pm,not a good end to the hol, plus i had my van booked in the garage for new shocks and tyres, that cost me another £310,company we ordered new alternator off, sent wrong one,my rocco dizzy bust in Cambridge town centre Sun ,and it took my mate 5 hours to come out with a spare one,was sat on a slip road, nightmare, have now had to take the alternator off the roc and put it on the wife`s golf, until the right one turns up.What`s next !!

Hope you watched COAST on the tele tonight. 8/9/2010 It did Tyneside to the Humber (filmed 1996) God's own entrance to his country of the Borders. After the M25 / 62 / 4 /6/1 etc I am just glad to get back home :)
-
Yeah i saw that coast prog, and also the northern food prog too !!
Was hoping to get to Carlton, and get too the pub there,as the ex gf`s parents go in there,as the turned the pub in Faceby into a restaurant !! Used to go trials bike riding on Carlton bank,on an old Villa 250,nearly killed myself on that ! then the gf`s bro Jimmy dunn, took me up there in the Hi lux,my god, that was scary !!
Lived in Faceby and Potto too, worked at Santoro`s restaurant in Yarm for a while too ,for a few months.
Recovery bloke said the Bongo in Middlesbrough is still going, had some mad night in there.
And yeah Grove hill, was an experience,he was a twoc`er,lost his licence before he was old enough to drive
-

Nice !!
Don`t own a bike at the mo,,although i was watching an old Honda tl on e bay a while back, had one when i was 15 and used to ride it round our village ,with a torch on the front and a push bike light on the back, cam chain bust one arvo, and i never did get it fixed
-
Suzuki tl maybe mate :)
-
Nope was deffo a Honda TL,was watching one on the bay,was a 4 stroke, trials bike looking thing, loved that bike
Here you go Clinton, the one up on the bay went for over £600 notes, bit too much for me,as it will only be a bike for fields etc, although most of the places i used to ride mine 20 yrs ago have since been built on !!
Mine was silver, like the 4th one in the pic !! It had the rubber bung things in the rear wheel,to stop the tube spinning, the spojes in the rear wheel were a bit lose,so it used to wobble a bit, well quite badly if i am honest !1
-
I did ONE winter season of trials riding many years ago on a 250 Bultaco. Shattered after every event.
Just the one season - stuck to my grass track racing after that.
-
Have never taken part in any competitive events, used to go up too the track at Elsworth, which was always a good day out.
Used to spend the week building up bikes for the weekend, cobbling bit`s and pieces together to make 1 working bike,i was lucky in the fact that mine never broke down, well until the cam chain snapped after i had put in a new clutch, but by eck did it go until it snapped, used to have to lean right forward just to keep the front wheel down !
Only really injured myself badly once, where we had all been riding over a tree root on a long corner,i came round it and leaned too far, rear wheel slipped over the root and sent me down on my side with my leg trapped under the bike, with it still running and burning through my leg on the exhaust, couldn`t get it off myself,so just had to lay there screaming until i was rescued

You don't seem to have much luck with anything mechanical do you Mark. ;D
