My van broke down last night and I'm not throwing more money at it so I need a new vehicle.I've been considering something that I can also cart the family around in,but I'm on a bit of a budget. It doesn't need to be huge,I only use 150-200 litres a day of pure water at most at the moment.I would ideally like something like a Mitsi L200 but for a good one I think I'd be paying a bit much.Does anybody on here use an estate car for work?I realise it's not particularly the image to project for business but I think it would be big enough for my needs just about.Or would a 4x4 be a better bet?Could probably rustle up £3 -£3.5k.Need to buy something sharpish so I can be back working Monday so any recommendations appreciated.Cheers.

I think you could get a pretty decent one in that price range, found a warrior here

Its easy...go for a citroen berlingo multispace...this is a tried and tested muti purpose vechile amongst window cleaners on here and within your budget.. ;) ;) ;)

Doesnt have to be a warrior either really, a standard 4 work, 4life would be ok and less money. Or there is a navara to

Can you tell i like pickups lol, i want one!
-
I really like the idea of one of them :)
How big is the back section on them? The only problem for me would be where to store pole...I dont like the idea of having them on the roof
-
Im sure some of them the back window drops into the cab so they could come through? Im not sure which one though.
-
im looking for a l200 next year,i like them, think they are great looking too!
I suppose you could have something strapped to the roof for the poles!
Also im gonna put a flat water tank in there and i see they can carry over 1000 kg which is perfect!
I have a doblo van and a clio im tempted to sell them both and get one or wait till next year when i get some money coming my way!
-
Strap a 1000 liter ibc down LOL

VW Sharan or Ford Galaxy...
Enough space for 12 25L containers in the boot (where 6th & 7th seats go) plus space for a backpack... Poles through the headrests or on the roof.
Take 1 container off if you use a trolley.
Get a kids £10 paddling pool from argos and stick in the back.
That's what I did... Worked a treat. Plent of space, very comfortable and you have a 7 seater if you ever need it.
-
I considered one of those Ford Galaxys until somebody mentioned that the tax is very high cos it's a 7 seater,is that the case?
-
My galaxy is a petrol 2.3 16v...it was £112 for 6 months the other day...not that dear in my opinion? And its a big engine
-
Just forked out that much for a 1.9 TD van
Average price if you ask me unless your under 1.6

4 x 4 japwagen/wankpanzer = ego trip - unless you are up on the moors in which case get a traditional landy. ;D
Pug 406 estate plus trailer for occasional use. 110HDi 2000cc "Y" reg to "04" is bulletproof, 45 mpg and only £125 road tax. You've got 6ft with the back seats down.
£1000 - £2500 depending on age/miles/condition plus £250 for a decent 2nd hand 400kg trailer.

Probably from carrying around all that pure water ;)

I'm with Gold. If on a budget get a trailer.

The OP said he only uses 150/200L and so this will go in a big estate, either by barrels plus backpack/trolley or a 125 tank plus barrels. (By having the trailer you can quote with confidence for commercial and you can use it when parking or manoeuvrability is not an issue.)

If your only going to be taking 200 litres with a trolly or back pack then I would stick with an estate. A 4x4 may look the business but they cost a lot more to run in every department. They're designed to take a tonne for 200 litres it's way ott. I have a ranger with a 650L tank and a 2 man set up, it's cheaper to run a second motor for family stuff.
