My first shop front and I have been asked by my regular house customer to clean there shop window. They are opening up a new shop that has been empty for about six months, I went and had a look today and it's a double aspect front, glass door, windows either side, approx size 6 x 8ft either side, maybe slightly bigger, I think they want in and out and probably every two weeks, anyone have idea on charging for that, I am trad not WFP

couple o quid and no mor emate. i do load so shop fronts and afew quid max if jus tlittle places. take sye a minute or so so dont get greedy

i only do 1 proper shop, ie in a town centre and i charge £3, it is 4m by 2m and this was the same prices the other where going to charge him, on there own they aint worth a lot, but have a load and they can be

Hmmmm doesn't sound very profitable as doing houses then, I thought business premises would have paid quite willingly as they want there shop fronts in pristine condition and they can right it off against tax too. wow I'm shocked, seems like I'll stay away in future

i also think it depends what area you live in.
our average shop fronts are £5.00 plus - of course depends on the size of the shop window/windows ...
if we ever picked up any really small shops - 1 pane and door for £3 i prob wouldnt bother, unless it was easy to tie in with the current work in the area ...

I do 2 similar to your one they are next to each other take 3 mins to do each one at £6 each every 2 weeks that sounds good to me!! you will also pick work up doing these as there are more publice around shops, if you dont do it another wc will !

I also have just the 1 shop front. Standard 2 large glass panes plus a glass door. I charge £10 per fortnightly clean and £20 every 2 months when I wfp the sign and clean the insides aswell.

Thats a good price, always X the job by the number of cleans a year, my 2 earn me £264.00 per annum for not even 10 minutes work a fortnight,

The cost isn't with the actual doing of the work, rather it is the time spent getting there. If you pass early and can park next to it then it may be worthwhile.

I do all my shop fronts trad so just pull up and do it quick, shop signs i do early mornings 6-7 am or sundays

we have to do several large chain coffee shops in different areas, lucky though as we also have a few large chain pubs to do so we just walk from the pubs to do all our other shops ...
just dont go too low to get them or worry about going to high - only you know what you can get done in 10 mins... so you give the price you want - they say no then id be shocked - unless are were taking the p with the price.

as others have posted ,the price is too low for shops
i had 2 takeaway shops and they were a pittance but it took me 6 months for it to click in my mind that i was a mug . Then they dropped the price further (from £4 to 3 ! ) and i then walked away.
later they rang me, by then my price was £10 and that got rid of em forever

I would charge a tenner, 3 quid just about covers them giving you the money. Could have customers or make small talk and your on a loser.

i refused to do a shop in the local village and passed another windys number on to one of my custies as its just not worth pulling up and getting my gear out for a few quid.the other windy does all the village shops so hopefully id like to think he d do me a favour one day!! ;) ;D ;D

I do shops every week and charge £7.00 per clean and £14.00 for inside and outside the front of the shop is two windows either side of the electric shutter and there size are 8ftx12ft.
As for one shop it has just had a revamp and I was told by the shop manager in which it cost £160,000 for the revamp.

I just dont know how people are bothered to work for £3??? set a minimum price for ANY WORK and never go below it. our minimum price is £16, if asked to do a shop front it wouuld be £16, either the same or double for insides. if the customer doesnt like that fine get someone else in. those £3 jobs become a headache later down the line when you could be off elsewhere earning more. the only work we do for under the minimum price are flats from £10 each, but we require a minimum of 2 per block.

That's all well and good lee, but in some areas of the country people are just not willing to pay £16 for a 3 bed semi or £10 for a flat. There are and always will be, unfortunately, window cleaners that are willing to work for peanuts, especially 'oop norf'.

i used to think the same until i bought a local window cleaner out. i have around 50% of the shop fronts on a busy high street. you will be surprized how quick them 3 quids rack up ;) i wouldn't price them like that normally but when you have a run that is an exception. i was surprized to say the least

"oop north" you cheeky so and so ;) prices are getting higher up here too ..... some of us even have minimum charges too !

Fair enough point, but it was more about setting a minimum price and being strict with it rather than the amount.

When I started Feb this year I real a lot on this forum especially with regards to minimum prices so thats how I started from day 1 currently my min is £10 (unless bought work but will get these up in price within a few months) however certain times I have been flexible such as a new estate of 2 up and 2 downs town houses 6 windows in total so do these for £8 / 4 weeks as I managed to get 8 out of the 16 houses so far and they take me under 2 hours tops to do the lot so £32 an hour not too shabby :)
