hi all
been doing my own diy website £20, details of where to go on foot of my web pages.
Let us know what yoy think of my site, it is still in progress and need to do contact page and meta tags.
please read through and tell me if does or doesn't make sense.
have spotted a few things i will change, but any constructive criticism welcome.
I using website address http://www.dcswindowcleaning.co.uk/index.htm to put on leaflets.
it wold be nice to be googled :o but i am not counting on search engines solely
thanks lee.

First off, you need to resize that picture, it takes far too long to load as it is so big
(http://www.dcswindowcleaning.co.uk/userimages/HPIM0544.JPG)
-
Its only a picture but the size of a small video.
-
your contact details?
-
not bad lee
like the demonstration idea do you repeat that in your leaflets? does it increase strike rate?
also liked the bit about ladders/tiles and maybe privacy for the upstairs
do they have to sign a disclaimer of some sorts for the insides re breakages?
-
the inside section i would remove the we only do it in bad weather, as i think this might put people off as they might not now when it is getting done
also we dont call back to collect, i find that collect is a good way to get to know ur custy and sort out any little probs, and it only take sme 2 hours on a saturday morning as a lot of my custy like to pay cash
-
Is that your own picture?
(IE not nabbed off someone elses site)
If so, I've resized it for you and added © 2010... just let me know..
Also, on your leaflets, you don't need to write /index.htm,
rather, just write www.dcswindowcleaning.co.uk as that's all you need to type in!

If you want to be found in search engines you need to do some serious SEO, you havent got any on it. Google doesnt know you exist nor what search terms will locate you.
Did you make it yourself or did someone else do it for you?

rise and shine, yep pic far to big will scale down, is it gif for internet.
steve will do contact page not finished yet.

mark and darren.
I have not put free offer of one window cleaned on leaflets so can not say, i should add that ive been going 5 years so not in desperate need of new business.(but better paying jobs always welcome)
regarding inside cleans to me i only want to do them when i can't work outside when weather is too bad so if people don't like that then so be it.
I have some regulars who i do inside windows for and do keep em happy but not after anymore like this; it is only worth doing internal if i can do on days i can't work due to bad weather.

nice and simple

This might be useful:
Q: Does Google ever use the "keywords" meta tag in its web search ranking?
A: In a word, no. (http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2009/09/google-does-not-use-keywords-meta-tag.html)

LoL, no worries, just right click the image in my earlier post and 'save image as'

do they have to sign a disclaimer of some sorts for the insides re breakages?
mark this is a good idea but i don't think people would want to sign a disclaimer (imo)
that don't sign one for the outside being done.
I can't see me going to court for breaking a flower pot etc (not meaning to sound sarcastic)
wouldn't want to get involved with secondary glazing, just use my common sense; if i've got any let ;D

A: In a word, no. (http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2009/09/google-does-not-use-keywords-meta-tag.html)
It uses meta tags for many reasons, there are over 80 criteria which make up googles results, meta tags being one of them. Ignore them at your peril.
When you do a search for basingstoke window cleaner the google description of my site isnt on the front page, it comes directlys from the meta tags.
If you look at the google description for www.oakleywindowcleaning.co.uk then it says Serving Basingstoke and most of Hampshire. Surrey, Ascot, Windlesham, M3, Guildford, Cleaning for both commercial and residential clients.
This is from the meta tags.

j.wfp, just saved pic thanks will replace old one later.
Thanks fo tips on meta tags, doesn't look like i'l appear on google then ;D.
thanks lee

Matt,
The post was referring to meta tag 'keywords' (click it and have a read..)
That link I posted was from Google saying that it does not use the 'keywords' meta tag any more..
I agree that other meta tags are relevant to google.
IIRC, other search engines may still use 'keywords' meta tag.

You definitely need to get your search terms on the front page at least, this will really help your ranking on search engines.
Make sure the area that you work (all area's), and what you do is well mentioned on the front page. When people search " window cleaner in xxxx " google or whatever search engine is looking for each of those typed words, so they need to be there on the front page.
