Title: Rust remover
Post by: tony harrison on September 14, 2005, 03:52:06 pm
 Hi,

What is the best  and most effective rust remover that we can get today ?.

About 20 years ago we used to use a Stapro rust remover and I have never come across one as effective, but unfortunatley I dont think it is still available.

Regards tony Harrison

Stapro rust remover was very effective and I believe it is still available.

I think the one Ashbys sell is probably Stapro.

I use craftex, it works before your eyes, some of the others are very slow.
Craftex rust remover must be handle with though as it contains some pretty nasty stuff

I agree Stapro's remover was blinding, unfortunatly they changed the formulation, so now its very slow and not as good as it was.

Yes stapro rust remover was the best but it was 10% hydrofluric acid and would eat through your fingers, or even the back of your van as Derek Ashby found out !!!
Pro-chems product is almost as effective and some-what safer o use.  There are a number of alternatives but they all take a lot longer to work.
