Been to do a quote today and was about to do a fibre test when the customer said Its a wool mix 80/20.
I did pull the carpet up to check the backing and it was a felt back.I asked her if she was sure it was a wool mix and she said she was.I never challenged her but personally I think it was a felt backed PP,
Has anyone come across a wool mix carpet on a felt back?
Also the carpet had a large Yellowy stain about 1 x 3 ft long,she said she thought it was dog urine and she'd cleaned it before with a vax and it went but has come back,Im thinking the stain has gone to the underlay ect ect.Anyone think this stain is likely to come out with HWE.
I think I might give this one a miss.

Come on guys surely you can inform a numpty like me whether you can get a wool mix with a felt back

wool mix carpets are available with felt back but are very few and far between.

when tufted carpets are made they start with what is called softback (without secondary backing) this way, they can be kept in much longer creel lenghts, then get the backing added be it felt or hessian ect, and cut to more managable roll sizes.

after retailing, cleaning and specifying flooring for20 years I do have some knowledge of manufacturing techniques.
Wool is not only available in woven carpets.
