Title: Micro / Chen
Post by: Steve Weatherley on September 13, 2005, 04:16:29 pm
Today I had a call from the nephew of one of my customers asking me if I could clean his suite. The unusual thing about this is that he lives nearly 60 miles away from me so it's difficult to quote for.
Anyway he has told me that the suite covers are constructed from a fibre called Micro / Chen (this is what the label says) and he says it feels like a chenille type fabric. Has anybody heard of this and if so whats the best method of cleaning it?

Steve,

Sounds like a synthetic suede to me.

These can be cleaned using either detergents or MS depending on your preference.

Do not get water too hot, do not use hydrocarbon solvents and check first for any evidence of delamination.

Cheers,

Doug

Hi Doug
Is this an educated guess or have you come across this type of fabric before?
Thanks

Steve

I have been carpet cleaning for 15 years now and if i am in any doubt i dont touch it, unless the customer will sign a disclaimer.

Work out the pro`s and cons, is it really worth traveling 60 miles!
