am looking at employing my first employee after the bank hols, they will be working 16 hours on a 2 man van with me 99% of there work will be wfp
what do i need to look for ie do i go for a newbie or some one experienced thats costs more, one of the reason i want to employee is to free up more time so i can do more knocking, i dont want to get them knocking as they might want to go out on there own
any advice would be great

Be a few years before I employ in my window cleaning business but Ive employed loads of people over the years in the sales departments of car dealerships ... I always went with the ones I felt I could work with your gut instict will be more than likely spot on ... anyone late for the interview never got taken seriously.

Its going to be difficult as you are not offering many hours, ....
You may be looking at only mums or retired people,
perhaps a fireman or someone who already only works part time, and wants a second part time job , to create a full working week.
I would offer full time, with door knocking included in the workload, they will only be interested in building their own round, if they have drive , enthusiasm and a sense of business....
most people want to work for others and dont have what it takes to build a business.
I would not give many teens a cat in hells chance of working for me, .. i woud prefer someone who has grafted and hit the skids.... someone who wants to work hard to support his family,
I believe you also get what you pay for.
But yes, gut instinct is important.
i dont employ, but i know what i want when i do.

As you are new to employing I would suggest you start with someone who is new to window cleaning so you can both start with a clean sheet.

go to the job centre, with 16 hours you will qualify for new deal and get paid alot to take them on also they get benefits till you put them on permanent after a few week trial
could be perfect for you and them
