im no way linked to door knockers im just curious how good they are and want a honest opinions of them whether they are good no good or crooks,if its one of the last 2 i wont be contacting them.
that all im asking for a honest assestment of the quality of work you get of them
the prices are good or do they underprice?
do the customers stay with you after the 1 clean?
are they honest and reliable.

doctorwindows, asked similar question myself you will never get a straight answer, only do it yourself etc. Never used any but i am sure they do a trial day. wind o clean took 3 weeks to return my call when i rang, left voice mail and never returned my call. When starting out you need all the help you can get, i am thinking of using doorknockers myself. It all depends on your goal and how quick you want to reach it,i cant get there fast enough so think canvassing companies are the way forward at the moment.i employ my own canvasser and canvass myself but still not fast enough,if you try them let me know

Ive used a different company myself, but will offer you some advice has i learnt the hard way.

1) Tell them you want regular customers only.

2) Contact each new customer before you hand over the money to check they have agreed to a window cleaner and that its a regular window cleaner they want.

Pricing wise, round builders are good and will get the max price. Down side is that they (am not saying they are all like this) can throw some crap in there... Eg i did first cleans to be told thanks, we dont need you anymore - (i had to pay one times for these customers, so earnt nothing and wasted my time) OR i even turned up, cleaned and the custy rang mes to say they didnt agree to a window cleaner.

I will say again that this is my own experience from one company not mentioned in this thread. Just my warning to be carefull so you dont get stung like i did.

Blue Frog

Thats why i insisted they used my own contracts. it clearly lays out the guide lines.

I had a canvasser recentely think he can edit these sheets and try and find an angle on me ::) needless to say he didn't get the cash for that!

If all you get from the person on the door is a name, address and telehpne number your asking for trouble.

The problems i had was. one offs. people only wanting a quote only and them being signed up as a custy. con roofs being included in the price (which i had to clean free of charge sometimes as its there word against ours). Not knowing about WFP or the system

With my own sheets it eliminates all these problems and they are on a 3 month contract.

Its more long winded on the door but at least i know i will have minimal issues when it comes to having the work handed over

I  have paid canvassers in the past and to be honest i  had nothing but headaches .
Similar probs as Steve cm has said , x2 cleans ended up x4 after blow outs ect ect .
Personally i wouldnt use Doorknockers as they want paying the night the work is canvassed about £600-£800 you will then have to chase up a refund for the cancelations ,thats after you have spent about 2-3 days trying to sort through the work .
I am currently canvassing  about 4-5 new customers a day and still lose 1-2 of those .

they dont round here fella!
Target is 100 custys or £1000 worth of work every 4 weeks!
If that dont get there targets i pay less so it doesnt bother me aslong as they get me 250 more custys i will be happy!
And if they are really good i might get a second van on the road early next year!
