Title: Fascia soffit cleans WFP
Post by: brianbarber on August 22, 2010, 06:38:40 pm
Hi guys,
Done only a few of these with ladders, washing and wiping with cloths,
Is it feasible to do with WFP? , are the results as good?
And if so do you put cloth on brush to catch any drips after it's almost dry?

Many thanks

Mr B

All the time, but I connect upto the customers outside tap so as not to waste my precious DI water! The outside tap gives a higher pressure so makes it quicker anyway. If possible, spray the fascias/gutters with TFR as it will make it a even quicker.
Once I've scrubbed it all attach a trad applicator onto an extension pole to dry. This will get rid of any dirty spots on the underside of fascias. Also you can usually get in behind the drainpipes and clean the bits that wfp didnt reach.

Adie do you use this method on the soffits too and if so what do you do about the tap water running all over the customers windows?   Would be interested to know as I've thought about doing them this way too.

Clean the windows when you are finished.

what about soffit vents? these can be knocked out quite easy and also you have load sof vents on some soffits running the full length wher ewater could get in.

Zeontech - your ignorance is excused  ;D The trad applicator is the 'T' shaped tool you use when a trad window cleaner is soaping up the window. Don't know if there is another name for it?

Mike55/JSMC/Gavin - Yes, I use it on soffits. You dont need to scrub the soffits hard at all. In fact you need to just barely touch it with the brush head to clean. The water does the work itself with little elbow grease from you. More dirty water will come out as Gavin mentioned but the trad applicator will soak it up. You might need to ring out the applicator every now and then to get rid of the excess water.
I did a 52' wide one today. It was filthy to start with, took me 15-20 mins and it turned out spotless.

speaking of soffits had a bungalow the other week for a soffit facia and gutter clean (only the gutter facia) and the soffits were a nightmare - as they had only been secured in with silicone so they kept lifting which made it difficult to put any pressure on the brush and of course the vents were ni-on impossible to clean

so likewise did the best i could

must say im not confident of wfp for this job - plus its bloody hard work, working at all angles think id prefer to combine a pressure washer after a scrub with wfp with tfr.

Adie - Do you manage to get behind the gutters alright to get the fascias cleaned properly?

I have previously used ladders for this work as you can guarantee the finish.  My concern with using WFP is that the crap stuck behind the gutters if not cleaned out properly will leak out on to the fascias in heavy rain.  I'm wondering whether a combo of ladders and WFP might do the trick (ie majority of work with pole then up with the ladder for a quick wipe behind the gutter only to finish. Could dry off vents etc too whilst up there).  Wouldn't want to make the process to long winded though  :)

I found on mine i did the other day i could not get behind the gutter very well with WFP.

They came up ok and looked clean but if you looked up behind the gutter you could still see bits. As long as the customer knows this and is happy with that then i suppose its ok.

I seem to be getting quite a few calls for gutter fascias etc. Windows are so much easier
