Hi guys, am unemployed and thinking of starting up w/c round and have a few questions I need help from you professionals to answer,
1) Trad or wfp? most customers I've talked to who have a w/c who uses wfp system arent happy with the finish and are looking to go back to a trad w/c
2) Pointer ladders or not? whats the advantages of using these kind of ladders?
3) Health and Safety - are there issues around working off ladders H & S wise? A mate of mine said they can fine you and close you down if they see you using ladders
thanks for any help

It might be good to add some of your background details to help with the answers, age experience etc. Plus the amount of backing you have financially as it will take 6-12 months to build up a half decent round.

Ladders are not banned
Wfp gives a brilliant finish in the right hands (some windows won't take to wfp though)
Pointers are for when you can only get a single point of contact at the top mainly .... eg shop fronts for example.... Signs / canopys above them can prevent having two points of contact, so you use the pointer

1. wfp,.. once you learn to use the tool properly the results will be perfect every time
2. ladders are restricted in the industry,.. if there is an alternative method then you must use it.
3. see 2. Prosecutions in this area normally come after the accident, they like to kick ppl who are already down!

i love the way newbies start out on trad, and then aftrer a few months go over to wfp, i know one lad who only did one house trad, hated it and went out and bought a system,
do you self a favour and save your money and just go wfp and learn how to use it properly

Pointers also give you more flexibility if the ground infront of the window is sloping, as you can set them up at more angles than H style ladders.

But you still need to learn the traditional methods as well Daz.

Good luck Gail - need more lady window cleaners!!
Not sure about the short skirt (not very practical) but a tight t short and short shorts seems to work particularly on the older gentleman :)

To be honest I presumed this was another 'newbie windup'.
Maybe not?

Give pure freedom a call they have the best training for the pole systems. Dont need to do much ladder work after that.

Do both, obviously if u got the money buy a wfp , but first u need to get the basics right, learn ho to do trad window cleaning, there are lots of tips to learn that will make you faster whilst still giving a good service.
use youtube for some tips , thousands on there.
when your cash flow is there and only if u need it get a wfp system.
i was trad for years b4 i started back and made a proper good go out of it and went out and got a wfp system, and thats as i had to as i won some council contracts and needed it.
i stiil clean at least 100 houses a month just on trad method
hope that helps
