Title: De-scaling TM

I've never descaled my TM as the water here is very soft but I feel having had the machine for 6 years it should be done. What is the best chemical and method of doing the job?

Brick acid from B&Q. Put it in the header tank and then attach a solution hose with an open ended fitting and run it around the system and back into the header tank. Leave it for half an hour, start the machine up and run it around some more. Leave it another half hour and then flush it out with a continuous feed of fresh water until all of the acid is flushed from the system, this can take 10 - 15 mins.
Failing that use HM Clear Water Rinse in the header tank and do the same process but it will be less effective.

Hi Guys

Brick acid is hydrocholric which is a strong acid and will ceratainly descale well.

I tend to use vineger, acetic acid which is a much weaker acid on the basis it will damage the pump seals less.As Simon says you will need to rinse well otherwise your next custy might think they've had too many chips.

Prochem truck mount descaler. Available from Prochem specifically for descaling truck mounts. Less risk of doing damage to seals etc.

Just put a litre of clear water rinse in your fresh water tank every day for a week and then once a month or so from there on.
