Title: PETROL SHORTAGE
Post by: DASERVICES on September 09, 2005, 09:13:01 pm

Just come in from collecting and er in door's has been on a mum's net and
someone has posted that they will be picketing refinaries. Er old man is
part of the action so has advised to fill up.

Don't know if this is fact but be on safe side and get your tanks filled up on
  Sat.

Has been on news so just advise may be wrong.

  Cheers

  Doug

I fail to see how blocking the refineries will have any impact if everyone fills up before hand?

I agree that the price is getting ridiculous, but the fact that most of it is tax is the problem, did every one know that aswell as fuel duty there is also VAT on fuel??

Strangely enough - tonight I was doing all the expenses for the last few weeks (I always plan to do it everynight but it never happens) and I noticed that for every £10 we spend £1.49 goes to the tax man.

Apart from wages, petrol is by the far our biggest expense.

For August it was £140.

I think I may be driving a little slower from now on and think a little more about really organising jobs a lot more sensibly which means more work in the evenings.

Also the odd thing about petrol is whatever happens anywhere in the oil producing nations - the price always goes up.

Cheers

I was wondering about that also.

I thought maybe there was some point I was missing.

Maybe whoever it was who posted about running an engine using cooking oil had a good point.

I can't believe how cheap they are - I ordered thirty litres of super unleaded and it was there, next day, left on my doorstep in 2 litre plastic bottles.

Is that truth.

I've looked at their website and 60 odd pence a litre unleaded....

Sorry to write that but if that is the truth then I'm a customer of theirs before I've ordered.

Surely, there has to be a catch.

They've certainly cornered the market in high-perfomance fuels. They even sell petrol with NOx already in it which saves on the costs of an expensive conversion.

Ultra Low Cost Value Unleaded (50 RON)

Especially popular with Rover Metro and Nissan Micra drivers, our 50 RON ULCVU fuel is made from refinery leftovers. This is a very inexpensive fuel indeed as it is actually classified as industrial waste rather than fuel.

made me laugh anyways  ;)

I particularly like their four-way funnel delivery system for if you're not in when they deliver. They send you a funnel with a special spout that branches into four with a short length of hose on each branch. They claim that if you order at least 100 litres and put four 25 litre barrels inside your front door, put the funnel hoses in  the top of each barrel then they'll come along and put their delivery pipe through your letter box and fill up your drums.

Then they squirt some rose-petal additive in so that the smell is more pleasant when you arrive home. All you've got to do is screw on the caps and pour the fuel into your motor.

I've ordered 100 litres of super unleaded already, but then again  I'm a Suzuki driving American! ;D

Unrelated to fuel but years ago I was told that the whiskey distiling industry did the same trick the dregs at the btm of the vats were classed as waste and this allowed it to be sold at a low price can't remember all the tec reasons but it was legit,

I think we should keep this topic at the top of the list for a while. It would be interesting to find out if there are is any downside to using this fuel in a month or so.
I tell you what. When I know a bit more info on it I will be ordering my diesel from them. It will be the white diesel but to think I can even choose a colour.
By the way what is the p&p on this? I cant find where it says on their website.

Steve

P&P is £0.10 per any delivery plus 1 penny per litre, so my 100litres of super unleaded benzole cost £1.10 for delivery so that's only 1.1p on each litre. Fantastic value!

They didn't charge me any delivery.  I did a deal, I let them take my old swimming pool water away with them.  They reckon they can convert that to fuel.  Some clever guys work for them I tel ya!

Would that be the H20 Hydrogen bio fuel that's coming shortly Grimaldi? I hear that at the local University they've not only managed to produce petrol quality fuel from the hydrogen atoms in water but that they've perfected self-cleaning glass.

In fact it won't belong before you can get bacon flown in under it's own power!

Hi S.C.S.

I wouldn't worry about the topic.

Some threads just degenerate into something else.

With stupid avatars more suited to an idiots forum where we all swap in jokes.

I am going to order some petrol but as for posting my thoughts afterwards, by that time this thread will probably be about Britanny, her friend Chardinay and a pile of other Chavs and whats going on in Eastenders.

There's a new type of Chav, the forum Chav. Noticable by a particular type of humour. Recgonise it? It wears no particular type of clothing but noticed brilliant only by those of the same stamp who look to there own posted words first and treat this as a means to fill the time similar to one who is obsessed with buying gadgets to pass the days untill the novelty wears off.

Sorry, but I think this forum is starting to loose something valuable in terms of what's posted.

Lately, I read some threads and after the first page.... ho hum ... I'm all for humour and sometimes something contraversial and sometime argumentative but this bland junk that seems to follow a set path of a well worn diatribe of well established pathways leading to ........ BORING..... Pick a subject and turn it into a chance to be funny in a particular way that says 'the forum that's the place to be'.

Again, I'm all for humour and the odd perculiar posting but when so many threads go off subject so quickly and even then, they don't go off subject, they go into weird 'I'm so clever with my off beat humour that I'm brilliant' type of posting.

That's just my view and probably I'm .... whatever... but that's my thoughts.

What I wrote above has nothing to do with being a w/c and so what?

I used the excuse of replying to S.C.S to air my veiws but so what?

I at least started on the subject.

Oh yes, I forgot, I clean windows.

What’s your problem lighten up a bit. ;D

The guy who posted this thread wasn’t asking for answers to a problem if he was I am sure many people would have replied whith sensible Ideas.

It wasn’t even directly linked to window cleaning.

Whats wrong with a bit of friendly banter? ;D

I always see this forum as a bit like walking in to the pub with a bunch of my work mates, sometimes we talk shop sometimes we drift off topic that seems ok to me.

When ever I have had a serious question to ask I have always had plenty of good helpful answers to them. :)

Hi Kingfisher

Quote
When ever I have had a serious question to ask I have always had plenty of good helpful answers to them.

Same here.

It's where things are leading when looked at as a whole.

A simple topic about petrol.....

Also, I get fed up of having to wade through piles of cr*p.

It's not a case of lightening up. And what does 'what's my problem' actually mean?

It's a case of idiots who think they are funny but who are clicky. There's plenty of forums that come and go. Most die from the fact that a few do all the in house chatting.

Read some of my past and current postings to see if I have a sense of humour or not. Or need lightening up or not.

I think the cost of petrol is linked to window cleaning. Unless you ride a bike and then it's the cost of weet a bix. What do you put in you vehicle?

Friendly banter is fine. It's places a human side to what would be a boring business only forum.

Those clicky clicky in stuff chat - that will destroy this forum. It has done countless others because after a while - they become the only ones replying. If a topic end ups jokey jokey jokey with the same few joking, then others loose interest.

If a subject soon degererates into a chance for a laugh by the 'in' few, then others both bother to read them. The seriousness, for want of a better word, gets lost and the real subject gets sold down the river.

Bit by bit, that forum then loses it's purpose and the sponsors pull out.

I'm for a mix of fun and serious. When the same people grab the chance and turn so many postings into what ever, then what's the point.

Some replies to postings are now drivvle. Dull and boring.

As for 'what's my problem'?  You know nothing about me and that is designed as a put down. It assumes I have a problem and that the problem matters to me.

The thing about 'lighten up a bit' - you know nothing about me or my life or whether or not I need lightening up or not.

What happens when you walk into a pub you don't like and why don't you like it? What if your local was fine and then it gets full up of kids? Analogies are fine when they say what you want them to say but suppose they then sing a different tune?

Do you still agree? Or is whatever happens ok?

Cheers

I first read this topic when it was only half a page long, now it really has got daft, Ross is quite right, now its pages of nonsense.
Yet another thread to lock, its gone way off base.

Locked at least means that those who have posted on this thread can still read it, but it will slowly fade away.

Ian
