Title: Should Ionics use this forum to advertise?
Post by: alansavvi on September 09, 2005, 08:49:37 pm
I thought this forum was for discussion between wcs, but now i see that we are being informed of Ionics open days! If this is to continue then all companies that supply our trade directly or indirectly should be allowed to advertise.

Just imagine, new topic, Procter and Gamble are having an open day to release new scented washing up liquid!

You who run this site, be careful, why do you allow Ionics to do this? If it becomes a forum for advertisers, who will be interested in this site?

Let Ionics find there own customers, they are not helping the industry, they are SELLING to the industry.

Come on Cleanitup.co.uk show us whos side you are on?

I think its good, you can see what each company does and does not do. If you dont want to go dont if you dont want to read then dont  Simple really.

I think more companies should tell us more about there products or just a quick meassage to say they have new items with there url.

I have to agree, it's good to know what new stuff is coming out, some  companys come on and give good advice, if we was being honest, they dont come on here a ram there   produces at us anyway.

Well if that is the case then surely we would want to hear from others as much as Ionics, but if this is going to become a forum for advertisers then i am off.

I think that someone has to pay for the running of this forum and maybe  it's the advertising that helps?

Maybe?

Anyway, I've always been curious as to who are the sponsors? I know they are Express Cleaning Supplies but we never seem to hear from them.

They seem someone hidden away and all secretive like.

Maybe the cider it taking effect.........

we all could take advantage and advertise our wares on here.and advertise our services.

yes we should have an advertising section or we will be swamped with ads instead

At it's current level I, personally, think it's OK.  However, maybe that would need to be reviewed if they kept posting about it or if too many did it.  I think it's useful to know who supplies what as I will be making the switch to WFP when I am able to afford it (not till next year probably).

However, when someone sings the praises of a particular product (or type of product),  I would like them to state if they supply that product themselves.  I dislike something being presented as a good review by a satisfied customer when, in fact, the "reviewer" is a salesperson for the product.

i completly disagree , weather as a supplier or on an individual level my views on ionics are my own , but as a company they have forged the way forward for people to work safley at heights yes it comes with a price and yes it may have come along anyhow , things drift over from the states , yet you cannot say they are not helping the industry , progression would not have occurred with out there tenacious selling and development of products , and advertising is allways a good thing as people have choices and need to be fully aware of what is available to them and if you look through the forum they have allways been suppliers giveing advice and hoping for a sale , if that comes with a cost thats forthem or decide.

You say you completly disagree with Shiner yet by the end of the post you are more or less agreeing with him.

How can you have meaningful discussion without getting input from people who have a vested interest in the equipment they are talking about?
One of the most useful  things about this forum has been the sharing of product infomation.
In the past it was "what rubbers are best ?" or "where do I get a good A frame ladder for the best price?"
These days it all has gone over to questions about WFPs which is an indication of how much has changed in the past year or so.

Without the help and advice of you good guys most of us wouldn't know how to start finding out.
Almost everything I know now has come from this forum and I know that there are others who would say the same.

Please carry on. I agree that salesmen have tried to sneak in but I think they have been spotted and ridiculed pretty quickly.
Not much gets by.

hi all

i like to know when there are trade shows and open days , ok i might not go to them but the oppurtunity is alwaysthere thanks to these suppliers, it would be different if everytime they had a new product they started a thread about it and advertised it , thedn it would be a different story but i agree its good to know whats happening in an ever changing and advancing market. we the consumer need to know.

I don't think Sair is disagreeing with me.  I think he's disagreeing with Caustic Soda.
It would be a help if people quoted a bit of the text they were responding to.

How much do you think these guys are making profit out of us guys, 200% !!!!

Hence I am going to build my own with the advise that has been posted on here.

I've come to the conclusion that WFP is not rocket science and if it breaks down
you have the advantange of fixing it yourself instead of lining the big boys
  pockets.

thank you shinner at least someone knew who i did not agree with , david ,i knew and used tucker  before ionics and omni pole were around or when they were just starting up, just was to young too see the full impact it would have  on window cleaning, or to busy on my own planet.

i dont think ionics have special rights they just inform people , so do sky poles and many others .

i sell systems , resins  we do speedlining, sell eco-flow. poles pumps i allways let people know i supply and respect that you dont do prices on the forum, i also give advice when some want it. or if i think its relevant or will help them.

sorry i never quote people dont know how , also hope your not decieved by my name its TONY not SAIR , no matter what tosh says i cannot get the name to apply  the change in profiles ,

They aren't my cup of tea but you can't single out one company when the forum is open to all.
I must admit, since I joined not so long ago, the topics page seems to have changed from straightforward query and debate, to something more vague, where you have to scrutinise the list for something of interest
It might be good to have an advertising section, and noticeboard as a permanent selection on the home page
and maybe one for the Fed too;D
