Title: How do I Mail Merge?

I have my customers on exel and want to produce individually addressed labels in order to send a newsletter to them.

I've googled it but I can't head nor tail of it ???

Buy carpet cleaners software , add data , 5 clicks and you can print as many addresses as you have in your database, was really simple.

I think you have to import it and its to do with the type of file it is. not sure but you should be able to convert on-line to formate need if you cant import as is

look up importing files to your database program if you have one. I used act 6 for years before i went stone age. you can get old versions on ebay.

go into excel, click on help, then type in "how do i mail merge" then follow the instructions, ;D

Been there done that lost all data twice thanks to our computer crashing....  >:(

Please note: Cleaner's software was NOT at fault and when I had it up and running, it was bloody brilliant!

My guess is windows was and is the problem. I lost a lot of my data last year also. Even when it was working well I found I had to wipe and re install windows every six months as it would grind to a halt otherwise. I now use Ubuntu which never crashes, never slows down and is rock solid as well as being super fast. Best thing I ever did.

but there is a backup faciluty in Cleaners Mate software, Colin. Save it to where you want. Its advantageous to have a usb memory stick to back up all the files you have created.

I even bought an external hard drive and backed the files onto that and onto a USB pen after the first time I had lost every customer..... When I came to retrieve the files, my computer wouldn't allow them to be brought back up onto my computer ???

So the problem not with Cleaners mate but with the computer.
Get computer fixed and then you can use a decent bit of software.

As stated above Joe, that is right.... Cleaner's Mate was not at fault!

Good computer's aren't cheap to us mortgage payers though Joe  :-\

Think I'll invest in a good computer around Christmas time.... Then I can tell the wife it's a Christmas present for the kids ;D

Colin, computers powerful enough to do the work a business like ours does need not be an expensive one.
If you have any computer fayres about you could pick up a new box for under £200 which will be a good spec. If your monitor is ok then use it, if you have your operating system cd use it, attach your keyboard mouse and away you go. £200 - and set against business expense.

Its only if you doing high end graphics or playing high end games yo need to spend more money, and most kids have Wiis and Playstations for games anyway.
