Hi Guys (sure there must be some girls out there doing this too? not just a man job is it)
This is my first post having started 4 months c/c ago all going well, well getting busier slowly any way
Looked at a job today with 80% wool, light in colour and dark staining round the edges everywhere, draft thro floor boards me thinks pulling the dust etc with a mix of bad hoovering i.e. missing the edges, and 5 years of traffic staining oh and this carpet is thro the whole house (5 bed)
Dilemma’s are,
i don’t want to shrink the carpet,
i don’t think dry clean will remove the soiling
hot water extraction will remove soiling
Any idea’s on pricing would be appreciated
what temp of souliton to use
Thanks guys and girls (if any on here) any and all suggestion very welcome

Is your name David by any chance??? :D
and to your question....
Hot water extraction all the way! It might shrink if its over 20 years old or a belgian wilton or axminster or a sisal or a seagrass... badley fitted etc
Is the carpet on underlay? a gripper??
If you are worried about shrikage, just give it a light pre-spraying, loads of dry strokes and use air movers are well as opening the windows if its a nice warm, drying type day OR close the windows and turn the heating on if its damp outside!
Use hot water, its hot water extraction after all..
How much do you usual charge? charge that.
No girls, just hairy men with tackle!

Seems like assumptons are being made here - what if the assumption is wrong?
The dark staining canbe a pain to get rid of and I find I cant get rid of it 100%.
I use mostly Ultrapac Renovate but it is time consuming.
Bad edges is a job in itself and must be priced accordingly.
Some of course may come out with a good vacumming.
You need to talk to the client beforehand, tell of the expectations and the time it will take - they may not want you to spend loads of time on the edges - time is money, from them.
Not being there, I cannot even guess how long.
