Am I correct in saying that the sewage bill is in direct proportion to the water bill? eg the more water you use , the more you get charged for sewage?
If this is so, does it mean that if I say I use water as a carpet cleaner ,taken away from the home that I can lower the sewerage bill?
Also if the above is true , the water company wont try and claim it is a commercial premises and try and charge a higher rate?

I think you have to get another meter fitted outside. That way the water co can see how much is used "normally" i.e. showers/toilets all the usual household stuff and the other one outside is for your business.
Then you don't pay the sewage charge on the outside meter.

call the water board, they'll want to know how many cubic litres of water you use per month for your business.
-
You'll get charged for whatever water you use then if you can prove how much is for the business they may give you a percentage off your sewerage bill. About £20 if you are lucky.
-
Im on a water meter and sewerage costs are charged a 90% of water used :(
eg. £100 water usage + £90 sewerage charge= £190

i use 2400 litres of pure water a week. this cost us £20 a week. you pay more for sewage than the water you use.

Just for RO alone that isn't sited at home, I have recently been paying about £29 a month (including waste). It's not possible to get a discount for me because I am charged by a landlord rather than the water company. He is very good though and charges it on at cost price though I do have to pay sewerage even on the water that isn't discharged down the drain.
For those who have an RO at home who have an all-in bill, I did wonder if you could get a discount because you drink some of it. Could always say you pee it out behind a tree.

I thought water was around £1 per 1000ltrs, how come you are paying so much, even if sewerage costs the same.

I'm paying just short of £1.70 per 1,000ltrs (including drainage). Without the drainage it would be just over £1.
I think there is sometimes confusion because, depending what area you are in, sometimes the water supply comes from one company and the drainage from another.

£1.70 per 1000 for me too but don't forget the rejection on your ro too, add that to your normal household usage and my bill comes close to £100 a month.
