Post by: MikeyL on July 27, 2010, 10:43:41 pm
This is my first year as a self employed WC and I have enough work for 5 days a week.
I would just like some idea's how to sort out my work when I want a two week holiday?

Any help would be great cheers.

Pay a trusted window cleaner to do it on your behalf whilst you are away if you can trust him. Also offer to repay the favour when he goes away on hols ;D

Go like the clappers before and after your holiday,

Thats the only realistic way for a one man band outfit, like most of us.

it wont affect you very much,  it just means you have to work harder..

Its the only way to do it. I'm going on 14th Aug so I've got to do 4 weeks work in 2 weeks. When I get back on the 27th its a bank holiday weekend. So leaves me only one day spare.

your custies wont even notice if your a week or two behind at this time of year anyway as a lot go on holiday themselves and dont want their windows cleaning in my experience!

I go away in Sept and going to try and pull a few forward and work the weekend if need be.  The rest will wait and 99% of people are ok wit this

I always go away twice a year. Normally abroad for 1 week and centerparcs for 1 week.

Most customers are fine with me being behind as they have got use to it over the last couple of years.

Remember this is the most important time of the year for people wanting their windows cleaned, so look after your customers  ;)

Most people wont care too much.

But if you work an extra hour or so to get ahead before you go, It will help pay for the holiday.
And a bit extra when you get home , you won,t be out too much.

I wouldn,t tell too many customers exactly when I,m going away.
As that is adverising your own house empty sorry but there has been a few robberies
happening here lately

I've only ever had 1 week Holiday's since becoming a Window Cleaner even with having someone working for me. Nice and easy to play catch up then
