Title: Glide
Post by: Griffus on July 27, 2010, 10:42:35 pm
I bought a wand glide from ebay a while back.

I used it for the first time today and am thinking of returning it. Not necessarily due to anything to do with performance, although I think the wand is better without. The reason being that both edges are sratched and grooved real badly, and this I noticed after just one room.

I couldn't understand when I first noticed but then it clicked that gripper rods were the cause.

Question to all glide users; is this the same for all of you and doesn't the rough bottom edge put the carpet being cleaned at risk of pulls?

Thanks in advance..

Hi Ian

Glides are made from PTFE which is a soft polymer and will scratch but this will soon even itself out.

It's worth persevering with to see if you prefer it, personally I prefer big shoulders ;)

Cheers

mine are always full of nicks and are uneven but that doesn't stop them working. don't worry about it,

And if you decide to sand them wear a mask, unless you want a near death experience.

Thanks guys.

I was worried about pulling carpet on the rough edges when in use.

I had thought of carrying a fine grade of sandpaper but could do without a near death experience so might give that a miss  :o

I might give it another go but aside from the damage on first impressions I prefer the feel without.

The thing is there are glides and there are glides I think I spent about 90 nicker on mine but it was well worth the investment, not sure you can get them now, proper ones that is.

Didn't seem to make any difference, the main thing is to keep the wholes clean I guess.
