Title: im wfpoling nearly ALL windows now!!
Post by: dazmond on July 21, 2010, 05:53:30 pm
nearly 6 weeks in and im wfpoling top and bottoms on nearly all properties now!windows are coming up much better than first cleans!

im using between 300L-350L a day at the moment with flow on 60(pure freedom digital controller).

ive noticed some spotting on some windows from my first cleans but custys happy second time round as they ve come up virtually spotless!

will they get even easier on third/fourth/fifth cleans?

60  :o

Mine is on 31 and it still delivers more than enough water. If I was to turn it up to 60, there would be water splashing everywhere.

Does this mean all flowmasters have flow rates regardless of the numbers on screen.??

I have my purefreedom flow controller on 60 nearly all of the time.
I find this the most efficient setting for the pace I work at.

All I can say is you guys are wasting a heck of alot of water or my flowmaster is wrong.
I can remember pure freedom telling me the norm was around 30-40  ???

My Pure Freedom controllers are set at 35 and dont have any problems. For new cleans i might increase the flow rate but 60 seems high to me too.

the lads that use them on 60 probably work quicker and spend less time on each window ;) I did away with mine altogether

I think most of us spend similar times on windows.

I just think that if the flow is set to 60 then way too much water is being used and wasted. Maybe some of you guys should turn it down and let us know how you get on.

Forget your readings lads

you need to measure the amount of water coming out of your brush per minute.

should be between  1.5 - 2.0 litres per minute.

Thanks Bob I spent two years trying to use less water then had to work without a controller for a week. I will stick to what works best now for me and helps me work quicker.

oh and well done daz by the end of the second cleans you will fly through

lol @ window washers
Andrew Thompson told me to use it on 22 when I first bought my system.
I found this very slow and time consuming, I think it was Ian (Window Washers) who told me to crank it up, this in turn will speed up the cleans (same amount of water used just less time)

Couldn't agree more matt and window washers. Bob instead of us turning down the flow why not turn yours up and see what happens ;)

i like mine on a high flow esp when rinsing brush off which im doing on all windows at the moment.

ive tryed to rinse with brush on and i just left spots or brush marks so im sticking to brush off with a high flow.

im not bothered about the amount of water i use as i can always purify water on demand with my small DI and a couple of barrels!

good results im interested in both for me and the custy!and thankfully wfp does seem to be doing a good job on most windows second time round! ;) ;D ;D ;D

ive also still got a bit of  that newbie fear that if i try and skimp on water ill do a crap job!!! ::) ;D ;D ;D

daz i know you wont do this but it would be interesting if your custies were given envelopes and a pole slip inside rating your wfp against your traditional cleaning, you know to see what they really think without having to say it to your face, i still doubt that wfp can do a better job than traditional cleaning and i think your custies would tell you as much given this kind of vote, i think im right in saying you cleaned frames as well before going wfp. that said im am pleased its going well for you.

tws are you wfp or ever used wfp?

i never used to clean the frames on a lot of my work pre wfp but the windows are coming up miles better than trad if im being honest most of the time!!i also get to do most windows above connies/skylights/2nd floor stuff.

i only trad the odd downstairs windows and my granny flats now!!

wfp defo does a more thorough clean and after the second or 3rd cleans they will just be maintenance cleans as they will be almost still clean when i turn up again with my brush and "magic " water!!!

NO if you get spotting on a second clean than this is a indication that you have a problem window  :'(

Why do we say it takes three cleans to get the window right.

1st cleans are the worst pure water reacting to all that soap on the glass and dripping out of the vents :'(

2ed cleans the windows should come up perfect if not you know that you need to change how you clean the window most will come good about 95%

3ed cleans will come up good as long you know how to clean that 5% of windows that give you a problem, if you just go over it like before then you will get spotting every time

3 is the magic number for a reason  ;D

tws its not about whether wfp does a better job!

can you clean upper windows a lot safer?YES!!

can you clean bigger properties faster?YES!

can you reach most awkward windows and frames?YES!

can you clean to the same standard as trad?YES!(after first cleans on most windows)

am i less tired at the end of the day compared to ladders?YES!

will i clean more windows in a day?YES!

TRAD IS GOOD but quite frankly its no longer necessary to climb ladders like a lot of us have done 100+times a day!

adders most are coming up great second time.the odd one that isnt im blading off.the odd wooden window has caused me the odd problem(runs)probably due to me cleaning the window directly under an opener too quickly and not giving a chance for the above window to stop dripping!im learning fast though!! ;) ;D ;D

i do still trad the odd fussy custys downstairs windows but im finding while ive got the pole in my hand why not just crack on and do all of em wfp? ;) ;D ;D ;D

i reckon itll pay off in the long run as the less i trad the downstairs  windows the better as they will become more "wfp friendly"as ill be getting rid of all the ingrained dirt and soap that gets left behind with trad!!

im defo becoming a wfp convert! ;) ;D ;D

daz iv never used wfp iv only watched somebody else using it and i was not impressed it looked very poor but thats no refection on you  :) i was talking about your custies perspective of  wfp not yours,im aware of the many benefits it has but i still feel most custies would opt for you as a traditional cleaner given the choice, its interesting that's all as i said im glad its working out for you.

thats the biggest problem with trad cleaners looking at wfp.. they worry about the customer. "oh my customers wont stand for that" is what one w/c said to me while working a few doors away. " really. whats the difference between my customers and yours?"

its simple. they dont get a choice and i give them clean windows

Just like I used to pick up customers when TRAD as they didn't like the other TRAD guy

Thats because your a scratty, tatty window cleaner  ;D

Us wfp  window cleaners are sorry that pure water window cleaning can clean more windows not put holes in gardens with ladders, Leave windows cleaner for longer, Give customers more privacy and not ask them to move the cars to get to windows, as well as not needing to go on as many roofs and breaking tiles

BUT HA you think it looks poor  ;)
