I forgot one today.
Ah well, serves them right for not being more regular. ::)
I picked up one yesterday and it wasn't a bad account, but when I left she said "See you just before Christmas then?"
I silently reply in my head "Pah! If I remember"
Great, thanks for that. :(

Graham. I'm not suggesting you do this but I did the following.
I just told everyone that I was switching over to a 6 weekly system. Even then, a few tried to get it 12 weekly. I only did that for a couple of large jobs that I wanted to make sure I kept. I also tell them that if I take a holiday or sometimes in Winter, I may not be able to keep up with the schedule as I don't employ anyone. Most people were happy with the switch. The monthlies saved a few quid. The bi-monthlies paid a bit more. There weren't many bi-monthlies so I was prepared to risk losing them all. The problem, I had back then was that I would get to an area and couldn't always be certain whether a bi-monthly was due this monrth or the next if I hadn't looked it up in my records before going out that morning. This pre-dates me keeping my records on computer (early 90s).

It's easy. I use 6"x 4" stock cards to record customers payment.
If you use a book to list your customers, do this, write their name, the job price on the left hand side, then draw a series of downword lines in your book so that the page is made up of small squares. each column of squares is a months work. I put in 12 columns, A years cleans. If they pay when you finnish the clean tick the next available square next to their name. If they are out write a 0. This gives you a record of payments received. If you call back later and they pay, strike a tick through the 0. If I get any knock backs they get a dash in their square for that month. Three dashes on one card and their looking for a new WC.
If you put a dash in every other square you know to leave them that month. You can make a table in microsoft word to suit your purpose.
I put stock cards in the printer to draw the down lines where I want them.
Each street or working area has it's own card. These are kept in a plastic envelope which in turn is kept in a 6x4 photo album.
I hope I'v explained it right, it's a good system. dai

i use george an excellent program i've never been so organised. :D 99% of my work is every 4 weeks i have about 3 6 weekly which i've just moved to every other time saves a lot of hassle!

Unless it's cream, all my new work is monthly in summer and two-monthly in winter. When the clocks go back I change over.
-
wot a good idea, I think I'll do that with all my work....Get every other month off in Winter!!

It works for me Grimaldi. :)
The core of my round is all monthly, but as my round filled up the extra I can cope with in the better weather and longer lighter days are difficult to manage in the winter. This way means I do about an extra third per month in income terms in the spring/summer/early autumn, without getting (too) unreliable in the darker wetter days.

I agree, really.
Bonzer!!
