only used one hot system for a few hours on regular cleans in a quiet village, low traffic., and i must say i was as impressed as when i first had a play with wfp for the first time.
so i voted yes.
hot water will always break down dirt better and faster than cold water.
so even if we think we dont need it on every window we clean, which we dont,
i would personally prefer to use hot all the time, one problem.. i dont have it.. yet
;D
-
I only use it on first cleans normal cleans don't need it
-
I would of loved one for the 3 weeks of last winter when it was absolutely freezing but I get on very well with my cold water system thanks :)
-
The 3 weeks of freezin weather put a stop to using the hot as well as the cold remeber hot freezes faster than cold water
-
I don't know why i'm replying to this Ewan (or whoever) but hot is better if you want to work faster with fewer mistakes. This also inlvolves a high flow and rinsing on.
If you like to scrub a lot, save water, and take longer then it's not so important.
If you have someone work with you who has never done this before and is a numptie then hot with fan jets and a high flow rate is pretty idiot proof from day one
It's true more skillfull cleaners can use less water, and don't need hot water.I'm not one of them.

Ignoring the sales pitch with these systems from the manufacturers, as window cleaners servicing customers each week do you think you actually need a hot/warm wfp system for windows that were only cleaned a few weeks prior?
why do you ask ?
do you use a hot water system ?
your question and your poll seems to me that you come over on the envious side of
A suplliers of hot systems
B users of hot systems
I could be wrong but then again you could have worded both the question and poll better

i have used cold water 5 years and hot for 3 years would not go back to cold, hot is much quicker and i did use it in winter when it was freezing kept me in work, great system dont forget the frost stat that stops the pipes freezing up over night exspensive but well worth it
-
hot water breaks dirt down quicker ,bird poo quicker, fly poo quicker without too much scrubbing
-
The prob was not van or pipes freezing up was the brush freezin to the glass along wit the dangerous froze water on paths
-
i clean all my frames and sills on every window they are dirty every time

Not every window you clean each day has bird poo on, so other than being quicker on those few windows each week is there any other reasons why you think it’s quicker.
because it also dries quicker
-
It's not quicker, i am. I am able to work faster because of it.
The difference is being more confident that i won't get complaints.I told you that a newbie first day on the job can do this, but this is not the case using cold water.
I clean on an industrial scale Ewan, you should know this, speed is everything and time is money. My 800l tank is mostly emptied, both electric reels are smokin', and ginger goes home completly cream crackered every night. An extra £1.50 a day for hot water is not going to break me.

This is an interesting post and what slumps is saying makes sense.
I voted no but I am slowly changing my mind

you work alone slumps?
you sound like you have a simialr philosphy to me when i work i / we go at it hard and will do anything to save time / effort and speed up
im still 90% trad, would like to see you working wfp as i reckon id need a similar set up
-
Well i was probably laying it on a bit thick to have a dig at ewan.
Yes it's about speed, but mostly it's about trying to make it easier for myself.Using the forum is good because you don't have to make/repeat the mistakes i/we made. For instance i started with a trailer, it was hopeless, don't ever do that.
I have emailed a video link to your info addy.

thanks

dont agree ewan have you got hot water?
-
i we can go on about this all nite, you think cold is best i think hot is best lets just agree to disagree
-
Hot water? He hasn't even got a van or a system, he's a phantom.
-
The pole says you dont need hot water everyday. I agree.
However using hot everyday does have its advantages, just some prefer not to. The poles results have no meaning.
I might use mine everyday in the winter, we'll see. I did at first when I first rigged mine up but decided it seemed unnecessary unless I was doing gutters/cons roofes/bird poo/bird strikes.
Im curious to know how a security guard has any inkling regarding about hot water being slower than cold water in cleaning. They have enough trouble getting off their asses to do a patrol round the block once a night.
-
You could shut us all up once and for all.All you need do is verify you are s bonefide wc'er.
If you won't disclose details of van/system/poles, can you get any single member to vouch for you as a genuine wc'er?
Last time you said window washers knew you, but he didn't remember meeting you.

I cannot understand this, People spend 2 grand plus installing a hot water heater and then only use it on first cleans ??? I am a newbie and use cold, I just cannot get my head round why people would do this?

because it cost money to run so they only use it when needed. I am still undecided if it is the way ahead so I will read on with interest

this might sound stupid but if i insulated my tank and filled up with hot water instead of cold, wouldnt i have a hot water system then, the only difference i might lose heat as they day goes on
or cant hot water go through the pump
-
Thought mentioning cold water is faster for this type of work, might rattle your cage.
That’s wasn’t my intension; unfortunately I can see this starting to go down the route of name calling and arguments.
At least you had the sense to ask I clean big gaffs, shame about your comments. :P
Why would it go down the name calling route?
Saying you're a security guard is only a statement of fact.

The pump should be fine up to 60 degrees as will di resin. You wont exactly have a hot system more a warm system but it does help keep the job going in winter.
