Title: Smoke Smell

Any ideas on Killing off Smoke Smell in a Chair.

I soaked it in Alltecs Eco Clean Pre Spray  

Then rince extracted with Ashbys Fabric Safe   3 times

Applied a Deodouriser

Applied Ashbys finishing spray   jasmine with anti bateria qualities

It appears  smoke smell is still there.

I could try another dedodour product

The above ,,, plus fog with thermal fogger  on the underside . Then once dry place in a chamber with ozone generator /ionizer.

What type of fire caused the smoke? this has a bearing on which products to use.

Think you've taken care of the fabric Ian.  The inserts are almost certainly the problem, but is it viable to replace them. They could try placing in poly bags with bicarbonate of soda and have the bicarb' absorb the odour you could even place the whole char in a BIG poly bag as above.

Might sound daft...............but the cost is very low and it MIGHT work well enough to justify the effort ! Something that scores brownie points and you might fnd usefull in the future is worth playing around with.

ask your chemical supplier for a dedicated smoke odour neutraliser either mist on or use to clean the chair

got to agree with bob, its not the fabric anymore, its the foam and possible wood etc that holds the smell.

Only way you'll get rid is washing the inserts.
The smoke will have penetrated everything.
Why do they bother just claim.

Smoke damage restoration is a skill , and the whole point is to restore items which are not possible to replace , or that would be otherwise uneconomical to replace, the odour can be removed by cleaning the fabric, and non destructive odour removal.

Its my local Area Patrol Police Sgt Obviously I would like to solve the case as I do not want to be pulled over.

He phoned on Friday said smell was still there bt this was only 12 hours after job.

I would have been supprised if the inside wadding was dry so my solutions would hopefully still be killing oddour etc.

They got them from second hand funiture shop did not notice smell

I like Roberts Idea  but will also look at fogging but Ive spent 3 hours on job already  but will go extra mile if required

Ian,

I suggest you try Prochems A217 Ultrapac renovate as a prespray then rinse with F&F rinse.

IF the odour still remains use A212 odour neutraliser.

Of course the above assumes the upholstery is wet cleanable.
