customer phopned me today shes spilt a water based paint in her car. last time i tried removing this it wasnt that good of a result i would of liked a better result . any sugestions

Although the paint was water based originally it was an emulsion which is simply bits of polymer suspended in water.
When it dries out the bits of polymer join together to form a plastic film.
Depending on which polymer is used this film will have varying levels of chemical resistance.
To soften it , water will achieve little but a solvent such as white spirit will dissolve it to an extent.
Try softening with a little white spirit , work in and then extract with hot water and detergent.

thanx mate i had a look at the job its a right mess. i thought it was just a little bit of paint, but i think it was a 20-25 littre tub. there was a load of it. the paint had gotten behind the side pannel every time i cleared some, then sprayed more liquid it just came back. ive told the customer to let it dry and i will just tart it it up get rid of the surface paint on the seats theres not much on them and just leave the rest hidden.what you cant see cant hurt. it would of cost the customer a fortune as i recon i would of been there two days takeing the panel off and moping it up . he said he wont let his girl friend use his car again lol
