Hopefully things will pick up for you soon however in the mean time get some flyers through doors and in everyshop notice board in your area. This has proved to be our best form of marketing along with referals (contact any past customers and ask if they need any repeat work done or do they know anyone who does).

Do you have a CSCS card. Like BDCS I am stacked out at the moment but mine is more national works.

Most of my work is drains but in the last week I had pressure washing, guttering, windows and even a undisclosed death! Pressure washable, if I were you I'd buff the website up a bit

Sorry to hear that,

How long have you been trading? How much do you advertise? Do you have a database of existing customers as i send out mail shots every so often with different offers for them and family!!!

As with CSCS cards i am in the process of sorting out the paper work to get my guys on a goverment funded course (NVQ in High Pressure Jetting)(i think) found out about it from a customer who works at a local college!!

Hope this helps
Good Luck ;)

Not sure!!

To tell you the truth it is not top of my list of priorities ;)

So please enlighten me as to getting a CSCS card as thought you needed to have/prove qualifications!!

In your response you stated that you are in the process of sorting out the paperwork to get them on a government funded course (a NVQ in high pressure jetting).

I presumed that you were sending them on a course to have a qualification in pressure washing. That would be something different to the CSCS card.

It was only a question to see how (if it was a different course) you felt it would benefit your business.

I know how getting a CSCS card benefited my business but I don't have an NVQ in pressure washing.

No trick question!!!!

No trick question!!!!!

Jeez Alan

This is getting hard work!!! Right you are going on a government funded training course that will get you a CSCS card at the end of it - is that right??

I have never heard of it being done that way.

I understood that CSCS cards were an independent organisation. When I got my CSCS card there was no NVQ qualification attached to it.

As with this NVQ you get qualified which proves you are competant in PW so you are then able to get a CSCS card!!! (or thats what i thought ::)

And it is only hard work between 9-5 ;D

You do know you can get a CSCS card without going through the NVQ.

There is an NVQ in 'Cleaning and Support services' which has one module within it that covers the removal of graffiti and fly posters using pressure washing equipment, but as far as I can find, there is no NVQ purely in PWing.

An NVQ does not qualify you for a CSCS card, you just need to do the H&S exam and pay your £30 (or whatever it is now).

To be honest, in 6 years I have never been asked if I have any qualifications in PWing even by large international companies... they don't care!  They just need to know you have the right H&S stuff and the right insurances.

Save yourself some money - don't do the pressure washing NVQ, do get a CSCS card and then leave all avenues open!!!!

You don't need an NVQ to expand your business, as for the ice cream, I'll have a '99' please!

After checking i can only guess that they are on about a CSCS skilled workers card rather than a experienced workers card!!!!  ???

There is no 'premium' for having any qualification with the only 2 occupations associated with PWing (Water Jetter and Blast Cleaner) so it must be based on experience I guess... don't waste your money on NVQ... spend it on advertising and get your guys more experience if anything.

We only have 'operators' cards and it has never affected either our rate of pay or chances of getting the job.
