Title: a question for those with over 600 custies
Post by: prestigeclean on July 12, 2010, 06:00:35 pm
i have been losing a few domestic custies recently , usual reasons , moving , can,t afford it anymore , don,t like the pole etc etc , probably losing on average 5 a week , i am picking up more than i,m losing but i wondered if others with a decent sized round suffer in the same way regards alan

600 customers for a one-man-band does not sound like a decent sized round to me.  Are you a one man band?

I think my round is under 300 customers (220 ish) and that keeps me/us (Wor Lass part time) very busy.  We range from some decent sized commercial work to bungalows.

Can I ask what your average price is?

We have about 500 domestics, and we only lose the ones we want to, on the whole we are gaining.

it goes it fits and bursts, sometimes you can lose 20 in a month sometimes you can gain 20 in a month, the more you have the more you can lose and gain the bigger you get the bigger the loss and gain. likewise the less you have the less you will gain and lose (these are examples not true tally)

So only get worried if you always lose, I monitor my losses and also call every loss to see why, moving, dead, money tight are the main reasons, faulty work is min reason.

I would gauge this over three months, if your calling the losses you will find out why quickly, not doing so could lead to major problems.

I would not worry too much, its the name of the game , and the more customers you have , it will seem like you are losing more,

But you're not , the percentages will be the same as a small round,

And if you are gaining more than you are losing, i would not call that " suffering"

Its the ebb and flow in business. My wife owned a few Hair salons and the loss and gain in that industry is accepted at 30 % coming and going. AS long as there is a balance thats equal then all is well.

yes sean i have a canvasser , and i,ve just been looking at some i,ve lost recently and most are newish custies , the ones who have been with us for over 2 years rarely seem to cancel , its just that i,ve recently started to build another round and its frustrating when you go out and pick up a few new ones only to come home and find that a couple have cancelled , no problem really i,ll just have to revise how long the new round is going to take to build regards alan

Those that move ive kept when theyve moved, then pick up the others that move in, only had 1 die and none gone skint some may change from 4 to 8 weekly but thats it.

I hope you haven't lost 20 customers in a month  ???  To lose that many means you have big probs mate. Hope you are over exaggerating :-X

you will tend to find that you only lose the ones that owe you money to start with in the end you dont want them anyhow  and they are soon replaced with ones that really appriciate you

canvass has a high cancel rate i find , not always but sometimes, you easily pick up the ones the other cleaners have got rid of!
