Title: TDS of your tap water?
Post by: Sir Squeaky on July 11, 2010, 08:32:05 pm
I wonder if I have the worst water in the world? ;D

I knew it tasted horrible and chlorine smelling, but checked the TDS tonight...

299 intially, but ran it again just now and got 268.

How crap is that? ;D

Yeah I thought it was a wind-up.

read this link it recommends changing ro membranes every 2/3 years and pre filters every three months

depending on the di vessel size will determine how often that needs refilled

Mine is 310 and it tastes quite good, doea mess up a kettle though. Just remember the higher TDS the beter it cleans when its 000 as it will try to return to what it was at 310.

Change your prefilters every 3 months. They are cheap for a set. These protect the memranes. Flush the membrane/s regularly, at least once a week and you wil get a good life  out of them.

Worst I've seen is 1500ppm!!! Yes, really. Private supply to a farm house. It's only used outside now but up till a few years ago it was their only supply!

The TDS meter reads 150 & a little x10 in the corner!

In large amounts then maybe.

547 is the higher end of what mine comes out at tap, not happy about that, normally 470/480

when with 10 inch filter I changed every month cost £3.50 for both, changed to 20 inch about £30 for 2 not changing for 10 months and see what happens, I may go back to 10 inch filters as 20 seem a rip off price.
