Title: Deal or No Deal?
Post by: Justen Uff on July 07, 2010, 04:01:58 pm
I do about 6 4/5 bed houses on a estate, most think every 4 weeks is too soon so I just work them in when it suits me and they're happy, but one customer wants them done every 4 weeks to the day, I'd have to go there just for that one and I don't think she'll pay any more, so should I deal or no deal?  What would you do?

id show up 2days late with excuse about the weather. then be on time the next time/ then 3 days late ,after a while she will get used to the fact you are never on time exactly.

why don't you explain to the customer the situation its putting you in and with the price od fuel and your workload and see if they will come round,      you must at least try to win them over

Explain to her that you are trying to keep her price down by sheduling her house with all of her neighbours. To go and do hers on its own will cost you more in fuel, time, set up etc.
If it really is an inconvenience to you to do it on its own charge enough to remove the convenience.

Always make your customers believe that everything you do is for their benefit only. Its something I learnt from Richard Bransons book and I always bear that in mind. Valuable lesson!

I would explain to the customer that you cannot ever guarentee the day of the clean, but you can let them know the day before should there be access issues.

Do not let your customers run your business!

We've got a similar situation to this just dealt with - just calmly explained to the client that if they want a special service then it comes with a special price tag.  You get what you pay for.  Said client has gone elsewhere, there's always someone willing to do it cheaper... or for more!

Like it.  This will have them eating out your hand.

I tend to be blunt and confident with it, and look at them like they are from mars if they want a visit at their convenience and not mine.  Typical overconfident window cleaner with more work than time I guess.  Surprisingly they tend to accept my way of thinking, but Adie's is certainly the way to go for the keen noobie who needs the work.

I am starting to think I have to put my prices up to cut the round down.  A couple of months ago things were quiet, but really picking up now, especially domestic.  Maybe its the season and the weather, hmm.
