its all about upselling karl, something i don't do so not for me, but each to there own. remember, there teaching you how to be pushy persuasive sales people so don't fall for it yourself. i'm starting to get fed up with altecs emails, "the boss is on holiday and i'm in charge for a week so i thought i'd sell everything at half price" i got that email while i was at the hard floor course there and guess what? the boss was there.

worth a nosey if your into upselling, let us know how you get on. make a good and interesting thread that would

Its the type of headlines some  direct marketing people use  to attract attention

But agree  I did repond to one  which then developed into a forthright discussion between the boss and me

I find it quite depressing that some members of the public do fall for this, that "bait and swithch" carpet cleaning company we were discussing the other day i looked at some of the testimonials most were awful but one guy said something like " i did not go for the basic £8.99 clean and it did cost a lot more but the clean was very good" why would you want to use someone who has obviously conned you?

I would have.

1. Not even bothered using a tradesman who uses such an obvious con.
2. been really p....d off that when they got their foot in the door and then hiked the price up to several hundred quid.

But this guy still used them ???  no accounting for some people, some of the Alltec stuff is good, but most is just that obvious speal you get from those awful American salesmen ::)

Not that i am suggesting the Alltec  is dodgy but it is not all it's cracked up to be, and one thing is guaranteed Alltec make money out of it even if you dont.

Ditto. Just un-subscribed. One a day is ok (ish) but getting a bit sick of multiple emails.

Got the PDW broken bottle one the other day
and the Steve Clark seminar one.
Load of b*llocks to me.
I make £25,000 a week but I'm not going to
tell you lot how unless you pay me £500.
Don't believe me? I wouldn't either.

Just had this afternoons job cancelled at 12.30.
She had a good excuse though, she went into
labour early so I'll let her off.
Have to mow the bl**dy lawns now.

John

A thought for the posters of the negative comments in this thread.............

UPSELLING is NOT BAIT and SWITCH

If you DON'T offer an additional service such as PROTECTION when it would be beneficial to the client, you are letting the client down.

BAIT and SWITCH is baiting prospects with low prices, but attempting to increase the price by lying about what's required, eg, saying " Your carpets will need EXTRA products to get a really good result and to keep them from resoiling you MUST have them PROTECTED.

In other words BLATANTLY LYING about the customers requirements.

Incidentally I have NEVER subscribed to upselling although it's perfectly ethical and acceptable. Always done MORE than expected and got endless referrals / repeats as a result.
