I am very confused about this 1, and cant find any info, or get my head around it.
I started a business in april though the jobcentre new deal scheme. I am still test trading until october, i can then decide if its worth carrying on with it or not.
I have registered as self employed sole trader, and the jobcentre pay my NI conts through my benefits.
Now, I have started this new business and I am a business partner.
My business partner has to register but is currently still working full time.
Do i have to tell inland rev or any1 else about my 2nd business? how does that work?
I dont want to pay 2 lots of NI's. am also thinking of ending my 1st business in october if i can get this cleaning business off the ground soon.
As i have just opened my businesses, i take it self assessment wont be asked un until next april.
Can any one unravel my mind???
I have been to IR website, and cant find any info

Is your business partner paye or self employed?
-
we are both self employed and operate as a partnership.
my partner is paye on her full time job which she will be giving up for the business.

Lisa, yes you should tell the Inland Revenue that you are part of a 2nd business. The IR wouldn't take kindly to you not informing them..... I believe that you have 3 months to register and if you don't then you can come up for a hefty fine!
I am not an expert my any means but if you want to give me a call email me on donendusted@blueyonder.co.uk and I can let you know the course I took starting up etc

Hi Jan
Thanks for all your replys to my daft questions.
I think i was just having a panic :)
Income tax is self assessment, my partner and i can pay ourselves what we want and class it as drawings,
and I'll ring the IR on monday to say i have started a new business.
I think the only training I 'll do, is probably health and safety type stuff and manual handling.
I hope no-one takes this the wrong way, but it might explain my silly questions and asking things over and over. I have a mild form of ADHD, and over anylise everything, so i know i have a right answer but tend to check it out with others aswell, Have to triple check everything :)
I really appreciate all your comments jan, you have been really helpful, as have other forum members. I kno what i'm doing.....When i have the confidence to realise i am doing the correct thing and don't have to seek approval :)
Get a few jobs under my belt, and I'll be fine.
Thanks again every1 x x x
