Title: Prochem Steempro 2000 powermax
Post by: Robin Ray on July 01, 2010, 07:44:51 pm
Hi all

I have a well established window cleaning round and have been considering adding carpet and upholstory cleaning to the list of services we provide.

After considering the options I have been thinking a Prochem Steempro 2000 powermax with 50ft of hose to be the best option. Im looking for a machine I can use on domestic properties and get good professional results in a good time. Im thinking of getting the machine from Express Cleaning supplies because it seems to be the best price.

Do you think this is the best machine to go for? At a good Price? Would another machine be better? and is there anything else I need to consider?

Opinions Please

Thanks
Rob

I'd recommend training first. Have you cleaned a carpet before using a hire machine for example?

Yes I have cleaned 3 houses with a rug doctor. I have tried the sebo duo with the powder on my own carpet, and have tested a numatic CTD570-2.

Training would come with the new machine.

I have a Steempro but dont really feel qualified to give opinions as I'm a newbie and have only used this and no other machine,I find it does the job adequately for the work I do.

Your more qualified than me!

How long have you been going? Have you been on a course?

The machine is only part of the equation-though its a good machine. The chems and also the operator are what matters.

As has been said get training so you avoid the pit falls and get a basic understanding.

Good offer by paul-see what he can do for you ;) - local back up and support will also be important to you.

Good Luck

Yes done 3 courses and been trading part time for 6 months now, desparate to give up day job and go full time,Getting about 5 or 6 jobs a week now and think I could build that up to 8 if i devoted all my attention to CC.

Never been a risk taker but I think I will take one soon.

Whats your situation Robin?

Hi Robin,

I have a steempro powermax! I must admit i've had this machine for six years and it's never let me down at all!! Its been a fantastic machine for me!! BUT(theres always a but :)) I'm in the process of looking for a new machine and first place i went was prochem and the machine i bought 6yrs ago is the machine i could by from them again!! What i'm trying to say is i feel prochem have not moved on (machine wise)!! I think there are better machines out there in todays market!  I've been to have a look at the airflex turbo this morning at cleansmart very impressed indeed!

I don't want to take anything away from the powermax as i said it's served me well and i think it's a good machine to start with!
When i bought the powermax i never researched or had a demo on any other one!
My advice would be to try a few machines before you part with your money!
Hope my advice helps a bit!
What ever machine you get good luck for the future

Billy

Thanks for all your replys

I have also had some information regarding the ashbys ninja 150psi with twin in series 3stage vacs. Im very tempted by their deal also. Seems a more powerfull machine than the steempro powermax. I see alot of people on here have or have had a ninja at some point. What is the opinion of these in comparison with the steempro powermax? Or as a starter machine in general?

Also There is a 70, 135, 150, and 400psi option. Would 400psi over 150psi make a masive difference in time on your average domestic job?

Rest assured you will not be let down with the Prochem machine, parts training courses, chemicals and back up service.
They have invested a huge amount in manufacturing for many many years and are always updating equipment/chemicals and use only the best  raw materials and parts available.
Many other companies just import equipment and badge them up with their own name on and some do not even meet European CE tandards, also if the distributor goes - so does your back up!

I would have a powermax/Powerplus any day they are a superb machine, and I know you will always get parts (if needed) for them.

I worked in the Cleaning Industry for 15 years for various companies, Prochem being one of them, using the powermax was a pleasure and under extreme conditions on a demo they always[/b] gave 1st class cleaning and performance!

Kind regards

Steve Conway (now living it up in the south of France!)

Jesus, has it had much use ? I have a box full of bust motors and pumps, vac motors my fault a couple of time (sucking suds,as the ball float sometimes does not stop the foam,if it`s very bad.
Prob got through about 6 or 7 pumps,2 down to me letting them freeze, getting caught out by the cold.

erm OK, so Will you have the steam pro and never had to replace the end belts? (they go atleast ever 3-5 months) or pump after 300 hour use? or the vac motors after 450 hours? (thats usualy 6 - 12 months use)

I find that hard to beleive unless you used the machine for an hour per week!
I have owned one in the past for 4 years and had all these problems. Its a good machine all the same!
