Hiya guy's....hope ya okay
Got my softner beads today........
Anyway guy's,i'v never used these before :-[
So iv put my softner beads into my old di bottle & ran water through it....& guess what the first bit of water coming from vessel rose from 525(tap water) to 900ppm..EH!!! :o :o :o
i have left running for 5 minutes & it has dropped to 600ppm......
My tap water is only 525 @ the minute & coming from softner vessel is 600ppm.....
Is this normal guy's???
I dont expect the softner to drop ppm,as i'v bought it to protect the membrains a lil bit,as you can see i live in a hard water area,but on the other hand i didnt expect it to rise the ppm? ???
Is this right fella's ???
Or does it just need a good flush with tap water???
Couldnt belive it guy's...
Just been back out,left it running for 15 mins now & ppm is 525 going in & 630ppm coming out...cannot get my head round this guy's
I have got another thread,but i thought this is a diffrent problem & the other thread might not get noticed 8)

yes he knows that he needs to run through the ro then di he is just wondering why the softing resin rises the tds

Its normal,.. the tds rises but the impurities are swapped for ones that won't damage the membrane so its fine.

But ya straightened that 1 out for me anyway man ;)

so if my water going into ro is now 70ppm higher than normal........(because of softner beads)
ro coming out @ 12 normaly ,its now going to be 82 ish,because of the extra ppm????
Sorry for all the Q's man,but i think if thats the case,wont i be just better not useing softening beads as ill end up spending more on resin to polish water off????

nope,.. the softener actually makes the RO run more efficiently so the TDS out should be similar to before. :)

Even set my draintap etc for my new 40/40 so its now 1ltr tank 2ltrs waste & its dropped the tds to 9ppm from 525+ ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Why use a softener if it only helps the TDS drop by 3PPM?

To protect my membrains man....my water is realy hard....nealy 600ppm :o :o :o :o
so this softens the water a bit b4 membrains....stops membrain from getting clogged with limescale etc,wich is a big problem were i live,we need a new kettle every few weeks ;D
Ya might wanna think about 1 for yaself stu mate???

Missus cleans them,within a couple of months...theres a hard ring of limescale round the end of fawcet(not sure if thats spelt right 8)) ;D

I am thinking that you should call the water board as your tds so I am told should never be above 500 out of the tap...

I'v seen a few guys on here latley with 500+ppm from tap,who use to be 300+ :o :o :o
Big conspiricey going on if ya ask me man...with water boards trying to damage our systems ;D ;D ;D ;D
it does say,however 500+ on the back ov a handheld tds meter i have,is contaminated water :o :o :o :o
