Title: What to do?
Post by: Alan McTernan on June 28, 2010, 04:48:00 pm
Hi Guys,

We are just about to finally finish a swimming pool surround that we had to steam clean to strip off some sealant!!
It has taken ages to strip as it is honed Indian Sandstone!!!
The problem is when i qouted it i was told it only had 2 coats of sealer but after my guy talked to the park employees it turns out it may have had up 5 coats! >:(
So do i stick to my quote and just put it down to experience or have a chat with the guy in charge?

Cheers
Alan ;)

Just put it down to experience. You quoted wrongly. Thats not the clients fault.

You may get a chance of repeat work at the moment but not if you bump up the price.

hi there

i might have to disagree on this, if you have quoted for an amount of work, and the parameters ave changed then you do have a commercial argument.

BUT, you need to guage this with the client, to decide if you have the relationship with them that will allow you to obtain an uplift to the price.

i have recently done that, purely on the fact that the goal posts have been moved, but it was done in a professional and commercial manner.

good luck

Cheers for the replies!!

Dave, thats a fair point, but to be honest there groundsmen normally do there PW and the only reason we where called in is they have just spent a fortune having the sandstone put down 500m2!!! And they didn't want there guys blasting the s@#t out of it ;)

Martin, i will have a chat with them when the work is complete, and gauge it from there, but am not going to loose any sleep over it ;D

Cheers
Alan
