What can i say ???  the guy has no ebay history and selling a machine with seven hours on it saying he's leaving the country, i am probably wide of the mark but if it was my machine i would want to know, my apologies to the guy if i am wrong which is highly likely :-[

We are supposed to help each other so it was meant with the best will in the world.

No, good point. We should start emailing him with questions  ;D suss him out and all that. See if he knows anything about wand valves for a start.... lol

Yeah, the 7 hours in 6 months of ownership does smell a bit fishy. Even a newbie carpet cleaner should be able to do more hours in that period.

I would not like to say any more on here, but could someone reading this who is near to the seller express interest, go and have a look at it, ask all the right questions politely, get the serial number then phone the number of the "recent theft" thread?

I would gladly go myself but its about 90 miles each way for me to Brentford.

Would you not think, that if it was stolen that putting it on ebay is rather a stupid idea.

And so soon. As for the serial number if it was stolen would have been removed.

Also having an item that maybe stolen does not actually mean he stole it and may also mean he does not know its was stolen.

I personally will be amazed if its stolen. Not everyone is a thief.

Morning Gents i have just asked him via ebay if he has the original bill of sale which i know i would still have for tax purposes.Hopefully it is a genuine sale and the seller will understand our collective concern.Regards Alan(swindon)

People do stupid things - including putting stolen items on ebay.
And whilst he may not be the thief he could unknowingly be handling stolen property.
If there is a place where a serial number could be and it is not there then that is suspicious.

No harm in checking things out.

It stinks dodgy dealing's to me.... And thieves are usually hard faced and desparate enough to flog stuff on ebay.... Maybe you're too trusting Dave because I've certainly dealt with some dodgy people on it and pulled out.....

If the serial # is missing, that would ring alarm bells, especially if the machine has only done 7 hours... And if he has bought it in good faith and it is stolen, he's still guilty of handling stolen goods!

As you say, it could all be innocent, in which case he'll reply to my email requesting the serial # for "Verification" ;).

Tony
Not on the ball with your prices.
The £1300 I presume is what you seen in the Ashbys advert.
You need to add VAT at 17.5%

PLUS - and this makes a BIG difference, particularly with the results you hoping to achieve with your new machine

you need to buy a head for it at £295 PLUS VAT. (I believe there is 5 for different circumstances all at the same price)

But you are right - you will get a 12 month warranty when you buy new..

Cheapest price Ive seen for the Rotovac 360i is Solutions Cornwall. There price includes a head of your choice but dont forget the VAT VAT.

No not everyone is a thief, but just think how stupid we will all look if it is the one that has been stolen bearing in mind that some of the facts surrounding the sale of this machine are a bit odd to say the least spending over £5000 and only using it for seven hours etc etc and it being the same machine as the stolen one.
We would look very stupid to just accept what he is saying, i wonder if the guys who had his machine stolen can be contacted, because if it were my machine that was stolen i would be a bit upset if no one told me that one like it had come up for sale.
Regarding the possible removal of the serial number meaning we would not be able to identify
the machine thats crazy, what legitimate reason would someone have for doing this, would you buy a car that had the chassis number removed, i dont think so it would scream stolen, well to me it would ???

If it is stolen, whether he stole it or not it is still stolen property and can be confiscated by the old bill and returned to its rightfull owner. I'm sure Mat must know who has the legit ones.

Someone needs to act fast because he is offering that machine for a very good price under different circumstances i would be interested myself, who was it who posted the original theft notice.
As i said in original post it's probably legit, but  :-X

would you not think, nicking it in the first place is a stupid idea and therefore making your statement null and void, just a thought.

Hi All,

Sorry, but I have just picked up on this thread.  I did see this one on e-bay the other day, however it is not the one that I owned that was stolen (I did not have the clock on).  I would just like to say thank you very much for keeping an eye out, it is very supportive.

I must agree it is a bit odd to be selling a machine with only 7 Hours ??????

Many thanks again to everyone and thanks to Ray for getting in touch.

Chris
