buy a tds meter and try your own tap water as it can vary quite a bit even in the same area!!

i got mine from pure freedom for about 15quid!! ;)

There are 3 main reasons I ask .

1, I clean carpets and upholstery , my tds (Bournemouth) is 380, I feel it could be shortening my equipment life.

2, My cars are really hard to get clean

3, my windows are hard to get clean.

I work a lot in Portsmouth and Southampton and wondered if the water was any softer there if so I would collect it to use at home .
