Sorry I have not been on for a while as I have been busy of late
to the point, whilst visiting a friend on the Isle of Wight today I could not but help notice
just how many dirty windows that I saw whilst driving round the Island
I am possibly thinking of semi-retiring there in the not too distance future
so will therefore require just a small round to create a little income
Therefore my questions are
1] are there no window cleaners on the island [but I did see one small van with a
pointer on the roof]
2] is it a question of lack of w/cs or do people just not want them done

I don't know about the Isle of Wight but I would look at that set of circumstances slightly differently.
Maybe they are not aware that they need your service, which will offer the island a high quality service. Get the ground work done and blow pointer Pete out of the water. If the windows are minging and you've only seen one set of pointers that is a real opportunity!!!!
It doesn't matter to me how many window cleaners there are in an area i just keep converting people over to my service, my way of doing things, , think small get small!!!
I know in the next couple of years I will have the largest window cleaning business in the region again and I'm not even trying at the moment.

I had a holiday there a year or so ago. Thought what a horrible shabby, filthy place it was to be honest. The island itself was pleasant but the towns were a disgrace and years behind. Not somewhere I would retire in a hurry.

I bought a bit of work from Mannocks when I first started, poorly priced, no sills or frames cleaned. Mannocks was not the biggest window cleaner in the area I can assure you - not with prices like the ones he sold me!!!
I know of a couple of other lads around Stoke who have bigger businesses but I guess there are window cleaning businesses and proper window cleaning businesses.
;) ;)

I have family on the island. Its extremely well covered by polers and traders alike. Loads of old folk and coastal resorts tend to suffer from dirtier windows than inland. There is a large firm which dominates the island, with a number of smaller operations.
Its no different from any other U.K. location. Very competitive right now, and most people who want a cleaner will have one...but not all.
