Title: Power washer recommendations
Post by: Andy_MK on June 24, 2010, 11:47:22 am
Hi all,

Im looking at expanding my general maintence business to include driveway cleaning (Block paving etc) and have been looking at petrol powered pressure washers and rotary surface cleaners.
The choice is vast so I would like to ask if I may for any advice or recommendations before I buy.

As this is not my main income I would like to limit how much I spend on the equiptment to about £1000 on the presure washer and £500 on the rotary surface cleaner.

I have been looking at teh Honda Taskman range (PW140 PH12T) and the 18" Whirlaway Rotary Surface Cleaner.

If anyone has any input I would be very grateful.

Thanks,
Andy.

Just to add to this, Ive been doing some research this morning using this forum and the way to go seems to be a 13hp Honda based washer and a whirlaway surface cleaner.
Some of you guys here speak highly of the PT250E from Tech clean. Also a couple of you have mentioned ther 500mm surface cleaner (linked below)

Would this be useful as a start up tool before investing in a whirlaway or would you advise just going for the whirlaway to start?

Sounds like a plan,

I spent a long time on these forums yesterday reading about the kit people have and Im planning on offering this service for next season and buying this winter which gives me plenty of time to put some cash aside for the kit.
I think I will go for the Honda that Tech clean supply and a whirl-a-away. Also I have read only good things about a turbo nozzle so that might go on my list to.

The only thing that I still cannot get my head around is weeds, for example if you goto a job thats got tuffs of grass and well rooted weeds between the block paving how would you tackle ths? I dont want to be sitting on my arse wasting time pulling weeds all day. Is it normal to come a few days before and give the job a squirt with weed killer and return a few days later to wash then a few days later resand. Would you charge for each like a seprate job splitting the cost into 3 sections payable on each day or just collect the bill in one lump after the entire job is complete?

I purchased my PT250e from Tech- clean 2 months ago excellent machine i also have the 500m fsc and i find that while it cleans it is like all other fsc's it will not budge weeds.
so i tend to use my turbo nozzle on most jobs and just use the fsc for paving slab patio cleans where no weeds are present to start.

use the fsc and then turbo to blast the crap away

I use the turbo for everything,.. many ppl report it being faster than the FSC even with the extra cleanup time.

I agree Nathanael i used to fsc first then turbo fsc will not remove weeds so now i turbo first then may go over with the fsc afterwards.
turbo is much quicker  ;)
