Hi,
I thought resin worked in the same way as a ro ...only faster,
My water is 255, (used to be between 80 and 100 psi)
but its suddenly jumped up recently ...why?
any way the ro-man brings it down to 00.02 no problems,
but my mates resin and container will only bring that to 0.45
so he is looking around to try and find a customer who has a tds below 100, and he cant find any....!
is this the norm?
its a bit of a bummer as i thought resin was supposed to do the same job as a ro system.
Thanks for any help.
ps he is on a meter , just started out , and went down the resin route.

It does, 'till it's knackered. Resin won't last long with a tds over 200!
-
if your water is over 200 then u he wont find a custy with tds below 100 unless he moves to a other part of the country
everybodys water has gone up recently its something to do with the water board
resin is only good is tds is less than 100 and even then it will cost a bomb to run

Mines gone down from around 200 to late 90's :)

Nonsense!

you need to use your ro to get the tds down then resin will bring it down hopefully to zero. For example.......
My water comes out of the tap at 370
My RO brings it down to 17 (I have sediment and carbon filters in front of the RO)
Then I have a 19 litre resin vessel which brings it down to zero
I have to change the resin approx every 2-3 months (but this may vary as some window cleaners use more water than others depending on how busy they are)
Hope this helps
-
If the vessel is too small or the flow rate too high, even brand new resin will not bring the TDS down to zero.
-
my tds is 35 and ive a big 25L DI VESSEL and i fill up with the tap half flow.takes about 45 mins to get 300L.
always reads nought, nought, nought at the moment!
im hoping it lasts me about 3 months or so before changing.
i wouldnt of even considered wfp if i had to go down the RO ROUTE due to the time it takes to refill and the waste water(im on a meter in a first floor flat!)
i dont understand you tds going up that much!!if mine went up to 200 i would go back to trad!! ;) ;D ;D
-
my tds is 98 and i use 250 litres a day and i think it is expensive to be di only as i have been looking at getting a ro system, i even use my old resin to bring down my tds going in to tank to make it last longer
-
Thanks for the replies,
my tds has risen to over 200 out of the tap. but it aint a prob to me as my ro still brings it down to 2,and 00 on good days,
so , i have never used resin... he has an 11l vessel.... and we have whacked it through on full tap power !!!
does the tap need turning down?
we never knew this...if its true.
i thought pressure has to be high....like a ro system????
-
gazza get him to turn the tap down to half flow to give the resin time to do its job effectively!! ;) ;D ;D
best wishes

There is another forum where you would get the correct advice on resin usage.
There are a few factors which will increase your resin life dramatically. ;)

Well, if you know, post the information. Or are you trying to advertise another forum in an underhanded manner?
