Try the local enterprise scheme - usually council run - sometimes will only help new business

i think the business link route means you put up half the money or so i seem to remember. local enterprise scheams are a good option but you have to make sure your business plan is perfect. the enterprise scheam will however give you a business plan template to help. i used a such scheme in staffs. i didn`t continue with the application after relocating and got the funding another way.

I enrolled on a Business link business course for £25. I had to attend twice a week for 3 months in the evenings. Then at the end of course I got a grant for £1500. This paid for most of my wfp stuff.
The only downside was that I had to pay for stuff first, get reciept, then be rembursed by them,.

was the business link course good? - what did you learn?
-
I went and saw a business link advisor, He never mentioned any courses, In fact I was not overly impressed with anything he had to say (which wasn't a lot ::) ). I was quite disapointed as I thought he would of gave me some good business advice. Just told me to go to dole office (I had claimed for 1 week then could not be arsed with it, The workers in there were more idle than the claimants !!!) and see if I could sign back on and then they give you dole money for something like 6 weeks while you start up your business (you have to of been signed on for so long prior to this). Needless to say they never gave me anything ::)

I phoned business link about funding and grants , and was told there was nothing available !
The woman I spoke to was really unhelpful and just didnt seem interested .

What about a business overdraft.
If you are earning enough, and the books show you are making a profit, you can have upto £20,000 easily agreed over the phone set up in a few days after paper work signed off.
Our banks calls £1000 a unit. You pay around £10 per unit to have the facility.
A loan would be required to purchase something, machine, tools, van and overdraft is instantly there and can be used for anything and they do not need to see proof of product.

If you have been with the same bank since October and are running a business account then why not make an appointment to see you business manager.
I changed banks last year, gave them a copy of George income and projection, then went back after just 9 months with new projection and they gave me 10k with more if I want it.
I am with Barclays and they are chucking the stuff at me right now.

Jack I am with LLoyds, I have been with them since last July, so what exactly did you print off on george, I am using WCP. I can get forecasts and reports on that.
p.s. Jack is that an overdraft or business loan? also what is the APR?
Sorry for the questions

Matt.
It’s a business loan, not sure what the APR is off hand I will need to speak to my secretary when she comes in, (I let her deal with that side of things) A phone call to Lloyds will tell you what they are offering.I needed to upgrade a load of equipment plus had a credit card costing me a fortune so just figured I would ask the bank, they could not have been more helpful.
From George I printed off the total monthly value of the business, This gave him the amount of jobs on my books and enabled him to see what my potential earnings are, I have been gradually growing for the last 12 months so by comparing what I gave him when I joined and now he could see I was a safe risk.
I print off and keep a copy from George on the first of every month so I can see how things are changing; I have loads of graphs and crap like that for all sorts. :)
I have not tried WCP but would imagine you can do the same, I have been thinking of changing over to WCP though as my round is so big now I am finding George lacking in one or two areas.
