Title: Resin
Post by: STEVEHANDS on June 13, 2010, 10:45:39 am
Wonder if anyone has had this problem.
I use ababout 600litres of water per week and have a 10" resin vessel, I only change the resin about every three months when the TDS reads 001, I have had a new tub of resin and after a week or two it is reading 001, does anyone think this is a dodgy batch, and what is safe to use as I have always changed mine as soon as it reaches 001.
Thanks.

Silly question but is it the same spec resin you are using as the last lot you used?? might be different!!!
also can i ask why you change your resin at 001?

It's Ok to use up to at least 10ppm

My 40-40 produces water so fast it doesn't get time to purify down to 000.  Comes out of the RO at 006, through the DI and out at 002.  Sometimes I don't bother changing the resin even when it isn't purifying anymore, never have any problems.

Sometimes I just take the DI out of the system altogether and use the water at whatever the RO produces.  Then conscience kicks in and I put some new resin in the DI and attach it again, but whether it's necessary or not I don't know - if ever we got problems I would be a bit more careful, but as I say, we use up to 10 and even higher without getting any probs.

I agree with Ian, I used mine last week up to 007 with no complaints. I in fact have done tests on my own windows at home and have used water up too and with a tds of 016 and you cannot tell it apart from the 000 window. Anything from 000 to 014 is invisible to the human eye (i believe)
I used to panic if my morning reading reached 001 and change the resin.
I now leave it till it reaches 010.
Do some of your own tests at home, it will save you a small fortune in resin if you go through alot of water.
I use 900 to 1000 per day so it saves me.
hope this helps

Sorry had to go out earlier, but thanks to all, answer to why I change at 001 is because just being too careful when I first started and just kept doing that
Thanks again that helps.
The reading has went back to 000

Is this RO or DO? I chnge my vessel every few days now, cos of the water quality change, it's around 55 after a couple of days :-S
