Title: whats best?
Post by: HIGH LEVEL WINDOW CLEANERS (scrimmy) on June 08, 2010, 09:42:19 am
Right lads....got a wee job on this weekend on a cherrypicker (mewp)...anyways the facade of the building is covered by a network of metal sections and metal boxes, now this place aint been cleaned in a while so the metal work is now all white and spotty looking.....the builders of the building who are doing the renovation want the metal to be a shiny as new, which seems an impossible task.......so here i am on the forums looking for the best solution (clue in the word?) for this problem.

here is the facade in question.......it all gets done including the big square which is actually a big Q sign.....looks more like a box but there you go.

I would of thought something like braso might clean it up.

Scrimmy - depending on the metal - stainless or galvanised steel or Ali will determine what will clean it.
and/or weather its coated/plated/painted

if raw finish and is stainless get a metal polish - brasso might be lightweight - there are better metal polishing creams for this and i wouls also use a drill with 'mop' fitted this will take out lots of effort

the same goes for ali - but i would suspect it would have been annodised - if so i doubt you will get the shine back

same for galvanised steel as the plating/coating would most likely be damaged.

Just out of interest, how did the cleaning of this facade turn out?
Any before and after pics?

Thanks
