Title: Ametex Motors
Post by: Ian Gourlay on May 30, 2010, 08:54:42 am
I had a very fast service off Woodbrige on Thursday come Friday.

I ordered two motors about 4.45pm thursday and got them at 9am Friday.

However I have concern, which I hope is nothing.

On website thec are listed as Ametex  3 stage 240v Motors hope I
 spelt that correctly

But on the Motors there is a label which AMETEC

My concern was raised as in trying to search for a Lamb Ametex website

I came across Cleansmartsupplies which said fit only genuine Ametex motors.

I admit I was buying on cost but not sure what I have ended up with.

also on motor was website which said www.ametec.uk

I am just wondering if this is a Woodbridge own brand product

Think you'll find pumps, motors, are made by ............pump manufacturers or vacuum motor manufacturers.  Woodbridge offer a range of motors from £42 to £150' ish. They are very unlikely to be of the same quality !

I believe you can get Italian motors which ARE of a good quality at reasonable cost, don't know the details as I just read it on here a while ago, but there's a man in Newcastle who might be able to help.  He sells machines from Italy but probably not many realise that.

I've got one of the smaller ones which is very good in it's class and apparently it's recently been upgraded with a 1600 watt motor giving exceptional pull

The Italian ones are the HITak onces I think which is the one I orered in first place.

I got told these were not available and paid extra acording to the part number they were listed as AMetex

They look like Ametex but I am not sure . I not over worried ut just like to know what I am getting.

Lamb Ametek are the genuine vacs fitted to most production machines.

Check your spelling Ian. If they have Ametec on then I would query it.

there is only 2 reasons for a company to sell a product with a slight different name to a recognised competing product, that is too either rip customers off by tricking them into believing they have bought the genuine article like in this case with Ian.

or they are trying to sell their own product by riding the success of an already established product,

either way they are being at best unethical at worst totally dishonest
